Step-by-Step: Purina Farms

by Julia Sandvoss (Feb 22, 2008)

I think I might have been even more excited than my son when I learned of their school fieldtrip to a local animal farm. I had been there myself before my son was born and enjoyed the up-close experience with the animals. Given how much my son loves animals, I knew it would be a great day for both of us. I wanted to create a layout that showcased all the fun animals he got to see along with a picture of him showing his excitement. I think I did just that! Read on to learn how to recreate this layout step by step.

Supplies:

Instructions:

  1. Cut a 1 ½" by 12" piece from the striped paper. Ink the edges with ColorBox French Blue chalk ink.
  2. Cut an 8" by 12" piece from the polka dot print paper. Ink the edges with Creamy Brown chalk ink. Adhere to kraft cardstock 1/4 inch from the bottom.
  3. Next adhere the striped paper above the polka dot paper. Add alphabet stickers for the title, above the striped paper.
  4. Stamp the adorable pig using Creamy Brown. Add pink Stickles to give detail.
  5. Next, starting from the center of the scalloped baseboard, stamp various animal words and images using a variety of ink colors. Work your way out from the center to make sure you fit the images onto it. Ink edges with Wisteria Purple. Insert brads at the ends of the baseboard and adhere to the paper between the stripe and polka dot prints.
  6. Cut from parakeet cardstock a 6 ¾" by 7" piece. Add six photos in two columns. Add a strip of striped paper centered vertically between the two columns. Ink edges with Lime Pastel ink. Adhere to the right side of the page.
  7. Adhere a 5" x 7" photo to the left of the other photos, for a total of seven photos on one page highlighting a fun fieldtrip!
