Step-by-Step: Willow

by Ramona Greenspan (Jan 21, 2008)

I love scrapbooking kits. They make it so easy to get a layout done. With all the coordinating papers, letter stickers and tags all in one place, you do not have to go searching through your supplies to find things that match. For my "Willow" layout I used the Little Miss Muffet Collection from Piggy Tales. This line was perfect for my daughter's horseback riding photos. I love this photo of my daughter. It captures a sweet moment from one of her lessons. Therefore, I wanted it to be the focus of the layout so I kept it super simple.

Supplies:

Instructions:

  1. I started out with an 8 ½" x 11" sheet of white cardstock.
  2. I trimmed my photo to 3 ½" x 5 ½" and also trimmed sheet of Whey from the Little Miss Muffet Collection to 3 ½" x 11".
  3. I centered the patterned side of the sheet of Whey in the middle of the white cardstock and adhered it.
  4. I adhered my photo about a 1/2 inch down from the top.
  5. To finish off the edges of the center strip, I trimmed the Whey into two (2) ¼" pieces and adhered them with the solid side out to either side.
  6. After punching out a star Barndoor Topper, I cut out the inside flap, so now I had two pieces of a star.
  7. I traced the cutout part of the star onto a piece of Tuffet patterned paper and used it to fill in the space where the flap used to be.
  8. I placed it eye level with my daughter in the photo so your eye is drawn to her.
  9. Then I placed the flap part of the star on the bottom right of the photo to help lead your eye around the layout.
  10. I stuck the label sticker, which I used for journaling, on the bottom left-hand corner of the layout to bring your eye back around the layout.
  11. I finished it off by adhering the cardstock letter stickers directly on top of the photo since there was a lot of white space in the photo.
