Step-by-Step: Beat It 6

by Nora Noll (Jan 15, 2008)

One of the struggles I have in scrapbooking is completing a page quickly. I agonize over color choices or if one patterned paper matches another. Kits are a way to take the guesswork out of having to make these decisions. I used the Three Bugs in a Rug Caboodle Collection Kit for these photos of Charlotte taken around her birthday in December. With only a few extras, the page took me about a half hour to put together. Here is how I created this layout step by step.

Supplies:

  1. Three Bugs in a Rug Blossom Collection Kit
    • Use the back of the Laughter Paper as the background.
    • Cut an 8 ½" by 1 ½" strip of the Zig Zag patterned paper. To make the zig zag pattern at the bottom of the strip, cut around the natural pattern of the paper.
    • Cut an 8 ½" by 2" strip out of the Lattice patterned paper.
    • Cut one yellow flower from the Dot patterned paper.
    • Cut the circle from the middle of the ‘O' in the large alphabet that comes with the kit.
    • Punch out the tag from the tag sheet.
  2. Bazzill Cardstock-Aqua Collection
    • Cut a 1" by 6" strip from the Tropical Bazzill
    • Trace the number ‘7' from the BasicGrey Chipboard Numbers onto the Tropical cardstock and cut out.
  3. Bazzill Black Cardstock
  4. StazOn Black Ink
  5. Black Zig Writer
  6. QuicKutz Merry Alphabet
  7. American Crafts Rub On Alphabet-Ned
  8. Kokuyo Adhesive

    Instructions:

    1. Ink the edges of the background and all pieces of patterned paper and the tag.
    2. Adhere the Zig Zag patterned paper 10" from the top of the page. The right edge of the strip will be even with the right edge of the background paper.
    3. Adhere the strip of Lattice patterned paper directly above the Zig Zag paper so that it slightly overlaps the top of it.
    4. Journal on the tag. Adhere the tag so that it is even with the left edge and 1/8" above the Lattice patterned paper. Adhere photos.
    5. Adhere rub-ons to the strip of Tropical paper. Adhere so that the left edge of the strip is even with the left photograph.
    6. Adhere circle and number.
    7. Cut out and adhere the title. The bottom of each letter will be slightly overlapping the Zig Zag paper by 1/8".
    8. Adhere the inked ‘7' onto the layout. Adhere the yellow flower onto the number.

I hope you give this kit a try. It is easy and a lot of fun to use!
