Step-by-Step: Camera Shy

by Tara Daigle (Oct 6, 2007)
I love to embellish my pages. Little things like brads, flowers and rub-ons add such fun and dimension to a layout. On my layout "Camera Shy?" I was able to incorporate two of my favorite embellishments: buttons and rickrack. Let me walk you through the steps I used to create this fun, dimensional layout.

First, you'll need to gather all of your supplies. Here is a list of the things I used, but you can easily substitute whatever supplies you have on hand.

Supplies:

Once you have gathered all of your supplies, you are ready to get to work!

Instructions:

  1. Trim your background cardstock/patterned paper to 11" by 8.5" and ink the edges.
  2. Trim your Hambly patterned paper to 9" by 3.5" and ink the edges. Adhere it to your background cardstock.
  3. Mat a 5" x 7" photo on orange cardstock and ink the edges. Adhere it at a slight angle to your background.

  4. Ink the edges of your paper strips (from the kit) and adhere them across the top and near the bottom of your layout.
  5. Using Zots, adhere the rickrack across the bottom of your Hambly patterned paper. Then add the rickrack to the top of your layout at an angle overlapping the top of your photo. Use staples and Zots to secure it.

  6. Next, add your title and outline some of the letters with a black Glaze pen to add some interest and make them pop.
  7. Add a small journaling tag below your photo on the left side.
  8. Embellish with various coordinating buttons. I used Zots to adhere them.
  9. Finally, add your journaling.

It's just that simple! I challenge you to create a layout today using some of your favorite embellishments. Be sure to share your creations in the gallery; we'd love to see them!
