Step-by-Step: Joyful
When I first saw this piece of rob and bob studio paper, I wondered if I would ever use it. The bright colors are far removed from my typical neutral-colored layouts. Then I remembered these photos that I had taken of my daughter in her favorite striped sweater. I was amazed at how well they complemented each other. Not only did the colors blend well but when used with the tan cardstock, they actually brought the focus to the main photo of my daughter's face. I continued the circle theme of the paper as the basis for the rest of the page. Supplies: - cardstock- Bazzill
- patterned paper- rob and bob studio
- Mod Primary Collection circle and label stickers- Autumn Leaves
- Silhouette Images star and circle- Heidi Swapp
- Chipboard Shapes heart- Heidi Swapp
- Plastic Alphabet letters- Heidi Swapp
- circle cutter- Coluzzle
- brad- Making Memories
- punch- Uchida
- pens- American Crafts and Signo
Instructions: (Directions are for an 8 1/2" by 11" landscape layout.) - From the rob and bob studio paper pack, cut a 7 1/8" by 9 1/2" piece of the red paper and a 1 5/16" by 3" piece of the striped paper . Use a circle punch to punch a half circle 1 3/8" down from the top edge of the red paper on the right short side and then a full circle 5 1/4" down from the top edge and 1 1/2" in from the right edge. Glue the red paper onto the tan cardstock 1/4" in from both the bottom and right edges of the cardstock. Attach the striped piece of paper on the left edge 2 1/2" up from the bottom edge.
- Cut a piece of green cardstock 3" by 4" and tear one of the 3" edges. Glue this piece down 2 1/2" in from the left edge. (I aligned mine with the top edge of the striped paper.)
- Next place your photo 2" in from the left edge and 1 7/8" up from the bottom, on top of the green cardstock and striped paper.
- Peel the backing off the blue circle sticker and place it so that it overlaps the lower left corner of the photo. Then use spray adhesive to attach the silhouette star onto the circle sticker, slightly off the edge, and the chipboard heart above it. Glue a silhouette circle to the inside of the punched circle in the same manner.
- Use a circle cutter to cut one of your photos 3" in diameter. Attach the photo 1 1/2" from the top and 1" in from the right edge. Use a label sticker on the photo 7/8" down from the top, covering the edge of the red paper and wrapping around the back of the layout. Add a pink flower brad on the upper edge of the label.
- Attach the plastic letters onto the bottom left of the main photo for your title, starting with the first letter on the blue circle sticker.
- Write a name and date onto the label sticker with a black pen. Then add journaling with a white pen around the upper left-hand corner of the photo on the tan cardstock. I finished off the layout by using the white pen to draw dots on the half-punched circle to mimic that of the silhouette circle.
In the end, I was glad that I had set aside my original thoughts about the paper. It showed me that although I was a little apprehensive about using it, I really enjoyed the challenge and the result.
