Step by Step: A Few Nuts
In my attempt to capture a circle headshot photo, I neglected to consider that my daughter and her cousins would be staring right into the bright rays of the sun. The result was this funny picture of them squinting and squirming while doing their best to smile. I chose papers by Rob and Bob Studios to enhance the photo of my subjects while keeping with the silly theme. Let me show you how I created this 11.5" x 8" layout. Supplies: - cardstock: Bazzill
- patterned paper: Rob and Bob Studios
- chipboard frame, decorative tape, silhouette and chipboard star- Heidi Swapp
- rub-on stitching- Die Cuts With a View
- label- 7gypsies
- pen- American Crafts
- chalk ink- Clearsnap, Inc
- font- AL Hairbrained
- foil stars- Avery
Instructions: - Cut a strip of yellow paper 2 1/2" x 11" and attach it to the bottom of the green cardstock background.
- Cut a piece of the blue circle paper 5" x 6 1/2" and glue it down 1 1/4" in from the right edge.
- Cut the striped paper 3/4" x 8 1/2", gluing it down 1/2" from the edge and slightly overlapping it onto the blue circle paper.
- Attach the photo 1 1/2" in from the left edge and 1 3/4" up from the bottom.
- Cut a piece of red decorative tape 1 1/2" long and a piece of white decorative tape 1" long. Distress each with sandpaper and attach the red piece to cover the seam on the left side, placing it on top of the photo. Then wrap the white piece around the chipboard frame on the right side. Sand frame as desired.
- Print quote onto white cardstock and trim to 3" x 2 1/2". Attach to the back of the chipboard frame. Glue the frame to the layout 1/4" from the bottom, touching the edge of the striped paper and overlapping the bottom right edge of the photo.
- A light mist of spray adhesive will adhere the silhouette star to the top left corner of the photo and the chipboard star beside it. Add a foil star to finish it off and then add a second foil star beside the chipboard frame on the striped paper.
- Use a rub-on tool to transfer a 4" length of zigzag stitches onto the right side of the striped paper starting at the top edge.
- Add a label above the red decorative tape on the left side of the photo. Use a black pen to write the date and any additional information in the open window of the chipboard frame.
- Finish the layout by rubbing fluid chalk ink around the outside edges.
