Step by Step: Sisterly Loving

by Kayla Richards (Apr 18, 2007)

I don't have much time to scrapbook lately, so I am loving quick and easy pages. I created this layout, Sisterly Loving, in a matter of ten minutes, and I've shared my simple process with you below.

Supply List:

Instructions:

  1. My layout is 8 ½" x 11". I first trimmed my pink cardstock to this size and then trimmed one sheet of patterned paper slightly smaller to fit inside, giving my layout a solid border. I also used a corner rounder on the edges of the patterned paper to give it a softer look.

  2. Next, I lightly inked around the edges of both the cardstock and patterned paper. (I ink almost everything!) I then adhered the two pieces together.

  3. I used the second sheet of patterned paper to create a strip that mimics the look of ribbon. I didn't measure exactly, but I made it about the same width as ribbon, and I made sure it was 11" long to cover the width of the layout. I inked up the edges of this strip. I created a second horizontal line using ribbon, which was also 11" long.

  4. Now it's my favorite part-adding the photograph! Using a corner rounder, I repeated the look of the rounded corners from the patterned paper. I again got out my ink and whisked it along the edges.

  5. Notice the placement of the photo on the two horizontal lines. I adhered the photo between the two to add a feeling of movement to the layout.

  6. I added a strip of scalloped cardstock along the edge of my photo, and an inked clip to the top of my photo for instant "cuteness."
  7. I polished off my layout with a catchy title . I first carefully adhered "loving" to guarantee my title would be aligned with the strips. Then I used rub-ons to spell "Sisterly" directly above the other letters.

  8. The final step is to add some more embellishment, or what I call more "cuteness." I used leftover strips of ribbon and patterned paper to create strips for the top of the page. I gave the bottom edges fun shapes, and adhered them. You can also use a felt tip marker to doodle, if you desire. I finished my layout by adding a few (okay, many !) fun dots!
