Look to the Stars!

Look to the stars for added bang on your layouts. I've often noticed that scrapbooking trends revolve around various shapes, including circles, ovals, squares and yes, even stars. It seems stars are everywhere you look right now, from large metal stars in home interior designs to stars on scrapbooks pages and cards too! Here are some examples for ways to create layouts that will have you seeing stars. Here are some examples of layouts where stars play a small part of the layout but make a big impact on it.

• For this layout the Bo Bunny brads have stars as well as the rub-ons. I added some punched stars as well.
  
  
  
  
  
• The hand-cut stars on this layout create a colorful border and a spot to highlight a name.
  
  
  
  
  
• For an added punch of color, I included stars on this layout.
  
  
  
  
  
• Here, the stars are part of the background paper. I hand-cut some additional stars to coordinate with the paper and theme of the layout.
  
  
  
  
  
• For this layout the stars match the theme: a bit slanty and punky, perfect for the photos. I used a Cricut machine for these funky stars.
  
  
  
  
  
• I used the punched stars as markers for all the artwork photos in this layout.
  
  

Stars as the Main Focus

Large stars also help emphasize a focal point. These examples illustrate how a big star will draw the eye to the photo.

• I tucked a large star behind the photo using a color that emphasized the graduation cap. I added the smaller stars to continue that emphasis.
  
  
  
  
  
  
• This layout is one of my favorites. Once again the star is the main focus. The title work follows the shape of the star, drawing even more attention to it.
  
  
  
  
  
• In this layout, I used stars as a theme and an embellishment, to help draw focus to my son's academic success.
