Product Review: Mini Dot N Go Glue Dots

by Denise Gormish (Feb 19, 2010)

I have been a fan of the versatility and the strength of Glue Dots for many years. I have used them both in rolls and sheets of dots. Now Glue Dots are available in a roll dispenser. To see how they work, I tested the Mini Dot N Go Glue Dots.

1_05The Mini Dot N Go Glue Dots are 3/16", which is the same as the roll and sheet Mini Glue Dots. The roller comes with 300 adhesives. To use the adhesive, remove the plastic covering and roll the dot on to your project. They work on a variety of surfaces such as paper, plastic and metal. When finished, place the plastic cover back on the roll dispenser.

The Mini Glue Dot variety is best for adhering small items like brads, buttons, and charms. When using the roll dispenser for the Mini Glue Dots, you may have to manually turn the wheel to get the dot  in position for use on your item. The dot should be at the tip of the wheel. When it is properly positioned, you can apply pressure to the small item to get the Glue Dot to adhere. Several dots can be applied to the same item if necessary. The dispenser can be rolled and Glue Dots applied that way. For the Mini Dots, though, it is probably more efficient to use them one at a time to get proper placement.

Like the other versions of Mini Glue Dots, the bond is strong, the dots are acid-free and it is easy to use.

The roll dispenser solves the problem of dots getting stuck to each other or to another item by accident. If you have experienced the mess that a roll or sheet of Glue Dots can cause, then you will be pleased with the ease and neatness of this product. The roll dispenser also eliminates the mess of plastic squares from the Glue Dots sheets. The dispenser works accurately and I've never had a problem with it advancing. The plastic covering does an excellent job of keeping the dots from adhering to unintended things.

A comparison of the cost of the three kinds of Glue Dots convinced me that the Dot N Go Dots were worth the cost. Both the roll dispenser and the traditional roll of Glue Dots are close to .015 cents per dot. The dots in the sheet, though, are closer to 1.5 cents each.

The size, neatness and portability of the roll dispenser makes it good for a crop or a scrapbook class.

One disadvantage of the roll dispenser is that the dispenser is not refillable. It is a waste of plastic and of money to have to buy a new dispenser every time

The Dot N Go varieties of Glue Dots also come in 3/8" Craft Glue Dots, 3/8" Memory Book Glue Dots, 3/8" Removable Glue Dots, 3/8" Permanent Glue Dots, and 3/8" Poster Glue Dots.

The newer roll dispenser is a wonderful addition to your scrapbook adhesives.
