Make That Page -- On a Budget
Sometimes it doesn't feel like much fun scrapping on a budget, especially when you can look around all the delicious new products on offer in the online scrapbook shops. I often lust after products I cannot justify buying and feel disappointed I cannot always afford the latest and greatest. I've found a new way to inject some excitement into budget scrapping, however: using cheaper products to recreate layouts that use more expensive products. It's quite energising to use up scrap supplies I otherwise would have forgotten about. Check out these two layouts I created of my nephew George. They are both identical apart from the differing products I used.

The first layout is the one using expensive products. I mixed my paper ranges and created a layout I love. Here is a breakdown of the materials I used: - Scenic Route paper - $0.80
- Daisy Bucket Paper - $0.90
- black Bazzil cardstock - $0.60
- Making Memories bracket notepaper - $0.25 (bought in a packet)
- Thickers lettering - $2.99
- selection of buttons from my stash approx - $1
Total cost of layout - $6.54 The second layout I created was using cheaper products. I kept the design exactly the same. In order to inject a little red color into the layout I used my paints to paint red stripes on the existing patterned paper. I also created my own little piece of bracket notepaper by drawing a template onto a page from my notebook and I cut this out. I then inked around the edges and traced the outline in a brown pen. I am thrilled with the results of this layout too - it is not entirely different but it cost a lot less money and has really revived some of the older paper I had festering in my stash. Here is a breakdown in the materials I used: - paper from QVC - $0.40
- Papermania cardstock - $0.40
- buttons approx - $1
- American Craft Remarks Stickers - $1.99
- red paint - free
- bracket paper - free
Total cost - $3.79 Give it a go yourself and see how you can use some of your supplies in a different way.
