September 2006 Sketch Challenge
For this month's sketch challenge, I asked three Scrapjazz Blue Crew members to take my simple sketch and make it their own. Erin Cokeh, Tara Daigle and Kayla Richards stepped up to the challenge. Each of them and I created our own layout based on the sketch. Here are our results. "Big Tease" by Tammy Moore With such a busy background I felt the need to ground both of my photos on the circle. By overlapping the photos, I was able to fit them both onto the circle. I wrapped the ribbon around only the circle to give it added weight, and I added hole-punched circles and inked the edges of the circle to emphasize the photos. "Happy Hour" by Erin Cokeh Erin used a row of flowers and a label holder to ground her photos and circle to the background. Notice that although the flowers are made of different materials, they are harmonious due to their grouping. Rhinestones and a curved portion of the title break up the linear line of the page. "A Sad Goodbye" by Kayla Richards Kayla used the sketch to create an 8.5 x 11 layout wonderfully. By using smaller pictures, she was able to incorporate all aspects of the sketch into a layout of smaller dimensions. Note how she placed the pictures at different heights to add interest. "Cowboy?" by Tara Daigle Tara also followed the sketch precisely with wonderful results. By journaling under the photos, and starting the rope accents close to the photos, she kept the focus on the pictures and grounded them without overshadowing them with the circle. She placed the title on the horizontal line to grab your attention. Now it's your turn! Use this sketch for your next layout and post it in the Gallery for everyone to see! We can't wait to see how you interpret the sketch into your own designs!
