March 2006 Sketch Challenge
Would you like to show off two photographs and still have room for a large title and journaling? Consider using the Scrapjazz March sketch challenge! This month's sketch features a simple layout designed for two photographs, one horizontal and one vertical. The design gives adequate space for the title, journaling and embellishments. A horizontal stripe provides focus for the upper portion of the layout. I asked five scrapbookers (Heather Binnie, Ramona Greenspan, Yolanda Williams, Irene Mueller and Angela Green) to create layouts using this month's sketch. The results are five unique and beautiful layouts. Heather Binnie used blue word embellishments to lead your eye around the page. Notice Heather's fun and thoughtful journaling included on a piece of notebook paper. Ramona Greenspan added her title using chipboard. She created her wide horizontal stripe with decorative tape. Yolanda Williams turned the sketch sideways. For the horizontal line, now vertical, she used a strip of paper and cut it to look like ribbon and threaded it through her paper. Irene Mueller kept the original orientation of the sketch but turned her paper sideways. With stitching and journaling on notebook paper, she achieved a very classic, homemade feel. Angela Green took advantage of the space below the title to add more journaling. Additionally, she overlapped her photographs to fit them on the smaller layout format. Of note: - Although the sketch is shown in a 12" X 12" format, it is adaptable. Four out of the five scrapbookers used the 8 ½" X 11" format.
- Yolanda and Ramona used curves to provide focus and softness to the layout.
- Irene and Heather both added the journaling using notebook paper. Angela used journaling strips.
Whatever size format, take a look at this sketch and create a layout. Have fun with the sketch and remember to post your layouts to the gallery to share with everyone.
