July 2008 Sketch Challenge
This sketch would work perfectly for your favorite July photo(s). For example, picture a large 5" x 7" fireworks picture with firework accents all around. Let's see how these talented ladies used the sketch. Sheredian Vickers kept her layout, "Jonathan," cool and clean. This perfect masculine layout has crisp, clean lines and her embellishments are stars. She decided not to use the patterned paper block, but to back her round mat with patterned paper. She skipped the swirls and grabbed a tag that says, "100% Cool." Very cool indeed. Ali Lipton created her "Gymnast" layout digitally and flipped it horizontally. She created a whole new look to the sketch by layering a 4" x 6" photograph over a large round photograph. Her swirls and doodles seem to perfectly match her daughter's leotard. A thick black mat frames her layout, and also gives her pom-pom-like embellishments and title the pop they need! Georgina aka GH26 created a beautiful pink layout with a complementary pink title, "Pretty in Pink." Her embellishments consist of pretty pink flowers that match her subjects' clothing and her background frames it all, again in pink. Her patterned paper gives the illusion of swirls, but she really embellishes with her bold black swirl which hugs her circle. Denise Gormish really knows how to celebrate summer with her layout, "Splash!" I love her way of turning her patterned paper block into a journaling spot. Her orange flowers accent the background in her photograph and the way she places them around her circle leads the eye around it all. A simple blue flower embellishes the bottom with some simple swirls. All eyes are on this gorgeous photo! For my layout, "B&E," I really wanted to embellish. Since I wasn't planning on journaling, I wanted to fill my page with stuff. A plaid patterned paper block sits behind my photograph simply to add color and layering. Hearts and buttons embellish the page and I "faked" swirls with my patterned paper accent. A simple white title completes my visual triangle of white.
