March 2008 Sketch Challenge
For this month's sketch challenge, I layered two sheets of paper and used one 4" x 6" photo. I also have strips of paper or ribbon running down the left-hand side with a few embellishments added. I did not add a box for journaling. Maybe you do not want to use journaling. Maybe you want to come up with your own space to add journaling. You can certainly change this sketch any way you want. Use the sketch to inspire you. I asked five designers to use my sketch, and I told them they were free to do any page size, and they were encouraged to make the sketch their own. Here is this month's sketch: Patter Cross (SJ username Patter) I used the sketch to make a 9" x 9" page. My layout is pretty much an identical copy of the sketch; however, I added a scalloped mat to the 4" x 6" photo. I also added several journaling boxes. Ramona Greenspan (SJ username Ramona) Ramona chose to do an 8 ½" x 11" page. I love that she used the sketch to make this page size! I also love how she used flowers in several spots on the page and used two photos instead of one. Ramona put her journaling at the top of one of the photos. Just a wonderful take on the sketch! Lisa Carroll (SJ username Lisa Carroll) Lisa made a 12" x12" page. She put embellishments throughout her page, and she moved the photo to the left and added a journaling box on the right. She also layered her two patterned papers slightly differently. I love her colors and overall design here! Andrea Steed (SJ username Andrea Steed) I love how Andrea put her journaling under the title! Look how she added a second photo on the bottom left-hand side. She also used a horizontal picture instead of a vertical one. Just an adorable layout, and love that precious Harley Chick! Rachel Myerson (SJ username boysmom) Rachel's layout is very similar to the sketch also, and she chose not to use any journaling. She also made a card with the sketch. What a great idea! On the card in place of the picture, she put her sentiment. As you can see, you can take this sketch, use it for any page size, alter it as you need to, and make a fun page. You could certainly use the same sketch several times, and your pages could look very different each time. So, use this sketch and start creating. Have fun!
