November 2007 Sketch Challenge
by Maegan Hall
(Nov 7, 2007)
I personally don't know anyone who does not get together with family over the Thanksgiving holiday. So, this month's sketch was designed with multiple family photos in mind. I hope that this sketch will help you highlight your Thanksgiving holiday effortlessly.

Andrea Steed adapted the left-hand side of the layout by changing the three separate sections for photos and/or journalinginto one space for all her journaling. She also added a large group of flowers. She used the right-hand "strip" for her title, but omitted one of the six photographs I sketched out for the right side of the layout. Notice how Andrea's flowers bring all the multi-colored outfits and pictures together. You can use this trick too for your Thanksgiving photos. We all know how diverse family members can dress.

Rachel Myerson (aka "boysmom") ignored the left side of the sketch altogether. Cropping her photos smaller, she even had enough room to add a journaling block! She says, "It is about a birthday dinner for my son with relatives and I needed to make sure all the relatives had their photo in at least once." I love the idea. How about walking around the dinner table and taking a photo of each family member for your layout?

I stayed pretty true to the sketch, although I changed the journaling block into space for another photo. Since the photos and title are pretty self explanatory, I really didn't feel the need to journal. I played with this layout again and again trying to "spruce" it up but it just looks better plain and simple.

I hope this sketch serves you while scrapbooking your November holiday photos. But, if you find yourself without family this season, this sketch can also be used for a wedding reception, birthday party, or boat trip!
