Virtually any magazine or catalog you pick up can provide some sort of inspiration. I love to look at the ads in the Sunday paper, baby and family magazines, magazines in a doctor's waiting room, catalogs (especially home décor and children's catalogs), and basically any other magazine I come across.

Inspired by Colors
Sometimes the colors in an ad may inspire you. The colors in this catalog ad are just spectacular.

You could use this ad over and over again and be inspired in so many different ways. A challenge would be to use every one of these colors on a layout, card, or altered item. That would certainly be fun and colorful. Here is a card I did that uses some of the colors from this ad.

Inspired by Design
Sometimes the design of an ad may be the perfect design for layout. I found this ad in a childbirth magazine. It inspired me to create this 9" x 9" layout. I did not have one large picture so I used three 4" x 6" photos and trimmed them slightly. The great thing about ads are that you can use them to create any size scrapbook page. This ad would work great on an 8 ½" x 11" page, a 12" x 12" page, a 9" x 9" page like mine below, or just about anything. With ads you are not limited.
