July 2007 Sketch Challenge: Cards

by Patter Cross (Jul 1, 2007)

The Sketch

This card sketch is a fun one. I cut several strips of paper and layered them on top of the cardstock. Then a sentiment can be placed on top of the paper strips. This sketch is perfect for scraps, it is quick, and your card will look great when you are finished. This would also be a wonderful sketch for any cards you need to make in bulk (i.e., holiday cards, invitations, "we've moved" cards, etc.) since they can be made relatively quickly.

Lisa Carroll

I love how Lisa took the sketch and turned it to make a vertical card. She also moved the sentiment to the right-hand corner of the card. She really made the sketch her own.

In this card, Lisa used a pre-printed tag and added a flower. She said it was super easy to make but look how stunning it turned out.

Ginnifer Maloney (Sunnydayscrapper)

I love the colors and the inking Ginnifer chose to use on her card. The added flower and large lettering also make this card spectacular.

Patter Cross

For my cards, I chose to make a set. I painted the edges of the cards and also added ribbon and a flower to each card.

If you have never made a card before, this would be a great sketch to try. And for those of you that make cards often, hey, use up your scraps to make more cards. Flip it, change the card size, add different embellishments, and make this card sketch your own. Be sure to post your cards in the gallery. We would love to see them!
