December 2006 Sketch Challenge
Do you ever look at a sketch and think that you cannot adapt it to the album size you are making? Do you like some of the ideas on the sketch but not all of them? In this month's sketch challenge you will see how different page sizes can be adapted to the sketch and how you can change the sketch to fit your needs. I asked Stacy Manfredi (UberGoober), Jennifer Sizemore (Sizemore), and Jennifer Bickle (ScrapaholicMom), all Scrapjazz members, to help with my sketch. They were able to use any picture size and page size, and to adapt the sketch as they needed. The Sketch This is an 8" x 8" sketch that contains two horizontal photos, a place for a title and journaling, and four flower embellishments. I kept it simple so that the sketch could be adapted in many different ways. Stacy's Layout In Stacy 12" x 12" layout, she only used one photo. She also placed the photo vertically instead of horizontally. I loved how she used stitching in the upper right and lower left corners. She also chose to use three flower embellishments to have more room for her journaling. Stacy also used the sketch to create a card. She used a onesie embellishment in place of a photo. She also used the journaling space for her title. This was such a creative idea. Jennifer Sizemore's Layout In Jennifer's 8" x 8" layout, she did not have a lot of journaling. She used that space to put a small bit of writing with a lot of stars and circles. Even though the original sketch included flowers, Jennifer was able to take the sketch and turn it into this awesome soccer page for her son. Jennifer Bickle's Layout In Jennifer 12" x 12" layout, she used buttons instead of flowers for the embellishments. She also added a tag for the journaling. Amazingly, she was able to fit four photos on this layout instead of two. Patter's Layout I decided to use the sketch to create a 6" x 6" recipe card. The 6" x 6" size did not leave a lot of room for all of the embellishments shown in the original sketch. So I just used one large flower on the bottom and two smaller flowers on top. I really enjoyed using a sketch for a recipe card. I may have to do this more often!
I hope that these layouts and cards have been an inspiration. I hope they also help you to see how one sketch can be used in many different ways. Take a sketch, and make it your own to suit your needs!
