One Page a Year
I love to scrapbook and at this stage of my life I have plenty
of time to devote to creating scrapbook pages. However, someday
when kids come along and life gets busier, I imagine I won't have
as much time to work on my albums as I'd like.
In anticipation of a busy "adult" life, I've decided
to create an album that only involves making one two-page spread
a year. Then, even if I don't have time to keep up with my everyday
albums, I can at least have something to show from every year. Surely
I can stick to that commitment-and you can too!
I
create one page each year that summarizes the important things that
happened during the year. On one side of the double-page spread,
I include a significant photo from the year. (This is a great excuse
for me to have a photo taken of my husband and me together each
year.) On the other side, I write a list of things that happened
in chronological order throughout the year. I add the year, some
patterned paper and an embellishment, and just like that I've finished
my page for the year.
My album is a small 5" x 7" album, but this format could
easily be adapted to any size of album. Use the One-Page-a-Year
format to scrapbook:
- Marriage. Start with the first year, and create an album
that will allow you to look back and see at a quick glance what
you and your spouse have been through together over the years.
School photos. Journal about classes taken, lessons learned,
and accomplishments.
"Book of Me". Reflect on your own growth, activities,
challenges, and accomplishments.
Family. If you make an annual family photo for your holiday
cards and write a holiday letter summing up the year, your photo
and journaling for this album is already complete.
This is an easy album to make, and even easier to maintain. If
you just can't find the time to make dozens of pages for every year,
use this format and you'll be happy to know your memories from each
year are being preserved.
