Simple Scrapbooks Mini Albums in An Evening Review

by Maegan Hall (Mar 27, 2009)

1_260As my life becomes more overwhelmed with ongoing projects and ideas, I have found a love for creating quick and easy things. It makes me feel that sense of accomplishment and provides a little bit more space in an already full photo box. When I first heard about Simple Scrapbooks' new release Mini Albums in An Evening, I was excited to buy it. Is this book for you? Hopefully I can answer that question and more, as I do my best to describe it.

When you purchase it:

You'll pay the low price of $6.99 for this magazine-like special issue. Don't let its magazine-like thickness and appearance scare you, there are hardly any ads in this idea book. You can purchase Mini Albums in An Evening at most craft stores and you can also find it online.

How it looks:

This book is 114 pages long and has a soft cover. The cover is not only appealing, but true to life. What you see is definitely representative of what's  inside.

What's inside:

This book is mainly divided into three sections: Bitty Minis (1" x 1" to 3" x 7"), Mid-Size Minis (4" x 5" to 5"x 7") and Mega Minis (3" x 9" to 8" x 9"). But the book doesn't stop there. It also helps with product choices and with the question on everybody's mind, "How do I display my mini books?"

The mini books showcased in this album are not only inspirational, but doable! They really can be done in an evening and you are probably going to make one of them after reading the book. The best part for me is that the themes, products, titles, etc. all seem to be different. So, I could copy each one and end up with 58 projects. A few techniques are repeated, but the end result is different.

What I love about this book:

Did I mention how inspirational and doable the projects are? Really. You can do this. That's what the book shows you. It's not about who's who in scrapbooking. It showcases real scrapbookers who provide ingenious techniques to preserve memories in a quick and simple way. The photo examples are clear and easy to follow too for those of you who opt not to read an idea book.

The examples are also adaptable. You can take an idea and make it your own. It won't even feel like scraplifting; it's being inspired to get our memories on paper before the memory is gone! It's what idea books are supposed to be made of.

Some things to consider:

The book is not a how-to. If you need help with what size to cut papers and photos, this is not for you. Although they tell you how to create things, it's not a science. It's just an idea book filled with ways to preserve memories in a tiny book.

If you buy this book and you find that mini albums are not for you, I'm sorry. If you buy this book and think that the options are just too small, think again! Copy the format provided and just upgrade the size of your album. This is a book for buying and when you're done, pass it over to a girlfriend in need of some love and accomplishment.
