Showcase Your “Fan”tastic Photos in This Fan Album
Stay cool this holiday season with a new take on the mini-album. I designed this fun and quick fan album to showcase photos taken during an all-girl, three-generation family road trip to pick apples in North Carolina. You can make this album as simple or as detailed as you want (or have time for). Let me show you how in ten simple steps: - Print at least eight 4" x 6" photos in portrait mode.
- Crop your photos to 2 ½" by 6" (picture 1).
Choose a coordinating cardstock and cut nine rectangles 3" by 8". - Trim the corners of the cardstock rectangles with a corner punch.
- Mount your photos on the cardstock rectangles, one per rectangle (picture 2).
- Add journaling to the back of each card.
- Add a title sheet onto the top card.
- Punch a hole in the center of each card at least ¾" from the bottom edge.
- Add a brad and flowers to hold the fan together (picture 3).
- Glue a ribbon on the last card to tie the fan together (picture 4).
For fun variations, use different colored cardstock, or replace the flower with ribbons. Decorate each page with rub-ons or stickers (avoid bulky embellishments so that the fan album can fold up). Give away as a teacher's gift (with each child's picture on a separate page) or as a bridal shower gift (with each maid of honor and the story of how you met on each page). You could highlight each family member on a different page and journal on the back his/her New Year's resolution. (You can read them out loud the following New Year's celebration.) Make smaller ones using index prints and use as place cards at your next dinner party (and your guests will enjoy this take-home gift). I hope I have "fanned" the flames of inspiration.
