Product Review: Glue Glider Pro

by Patter Cross (Feb 5, 2010)

Adhesives are so important to a paper crafter yet finding one that a crafter loves can be so hard.  Recently I had the chance to play with the Glue Glider Pro by Glue Art, since my favorite adhesive is no longer being sold.  Let's look at what I found out about this adhesive.

1_02Applicator

The Glue Glider Pro applicator measures 5 ½" from the tip to the back of the unit, and it measures 7" from the top to the bottom of the handle.  It is a nice size yet not too big.  I have very tiny hands and carpal tunnel syndrome, and I do not have any problem using this applicator.

The Glue Glider Pro can be used on paper, plastic, wood, chipboard, metal, glass, foam, and more.  It is also acid-free and safe on your photos.

Adhesive Cartridges

There are four types of adhesive cartridges available for the Glue Glider Pro applicator.  They are the:

  • Perma Tac adhesive
  • High Tac adhesive
  • Perma Squares
  • Repositionable adhesive

Let's look at the differences between the cartridges.

Perma Tac Adhesive

This adhesive cartridge has 40 feet of 1/4" wide strip adhesive.  It is a permanent adhesive and is cut every 1/16" so you can use a small amount or in a continuous line.

High Tac Adhesive

This adhesive cartridge has 60 feet of 1/4" wide diamond-patterned adhesive.  It is a permanent adhesive that is cut in a diamond pattern and allows you to use a small amount of adhesive or use it in a continuous line.

Perma Squares Adhesive

This adhesive cartridge has over 720 squares that measure 1/4" x 1/4" with a 1/2" space in between each square.  This allows you to use just one square of adhesive or you can use it in a continuous line also.

Repositionable Adhesive

This is a removable adhesive that has 1/8" x 1/4" strips with a 1/8" gap in between each strip.  There are over 2,000 segments of repositionable adhesive in this cartridge.

Pros & Cons

As with any adhesive, there are things you will love about it, and things you may dislike about it.  Let's look at some of the things I found with the Glue Glider Pro applicator and adhesive cartridges.

Pros

  • It's light and easy to hold even for someone with carpal tunnel.
  • You can change cartridges in the middle of any creation.  For example, switch from permanent adhesive to repositionable adhesive in a snap!
  • It is  easy to load, and it does not jam.
  • It glides easily across your paper.
  • There is a manual advance wheel so that you can just get one square or strip.

Cons

  • Adhesive cartridges are expensive.
  • They take up more storage space.
  • You cannot always see where to start and stop on your paper so sometimes getting the edges of your paper can be difficult.

Overall, I like the Glue Glider Pro.  Visit the Glue Arts site at to see a video demonstration of the product and adhesive cartridges.  I hope you will give the Glue Glider Pro a try.  I think you might find it a nice addition to your crafting supplies!  Have fun!
