Product Review: American Crafts Chipboard Alphabets

Here are some things I've enjoyed doing with my American Crafts chipboard alphabets:

• Create Large Page Titles. The chipboard letters, approximately 1 -1 1/2 inches, create large, easy-to-read titles. With an uncluttered background, the letters easily provide focus on the title.
  
  
  
  
  
  
• Add Depth. With chipboard letters, depth is instantly added to the paper. It also coordinates well with other items of depth such as flowers, buttons and other chipboard elements.
  
  
  
  
  

• Mix Uppercase and Lowercase Varieties. With several font styles and upper and lower cases letters available, the different chipboard alphabets can be mixed for a variety of styles. The layout, "Quaint Site," mixes uppercase Shoe Box-style letters with lowercase Gift Box-style letters.
  
  
  
  
  

• Mix Chipboard with Rub-ons or Stickers. To achieve additional styles, mix the chipboard with another lettering system such as rub-ons.
  
  
  
  
  
  
• Use the Punctuation. Each alphabet set comes with some punctuation for your titles. Have fun with the punctuation, using it either as part of the title in another portion of the layout. In "Quote" I used the quotation marks, but not in the title. It was used around a computer-generated section of journaling.
  
  
  
  
  
  
• Mix Chipboard Fonts. Don't feel relegated to one font style for your layout. With the several font styles available, it is easy to mix the fonts into one title. In "Face to Face" I used the Shoe Box letters for the word "Face" but the Hat Box letters for the word "To."
