Fall 2006 Product Releases

by Karina Worlton (Sep 22, 2006)

You may want to get your credit card ready, because you are going to want all of these wonderful new products! Here are some of the great finds from recent scrapbooking product releases. Look for these products in your local scrapbook store. Some of these releases are so new they're not yet on the web. However, where we were able, we tried to link to sources that display or carry the new products.

  • 7 Gypsies roamed the world for inspiration, coming up with Stamp Seals, Label Sticker Books, and a Melting Pot and Spoon for wax seals, along with colorful papers in green, orange, blue and beige.

  • All My Memories gives us Uptown Chic in three new colors (Currant, Biscuit, and Charcoal) with wallets and handbags that have diamond-shaped windows to display photographs. Dressing up scrapbook pages is easy with additions to their Couture and Expressions lines as well as Com-Posies floral embellishments.

  • American Crafts plays with their paper collections, naming the patterns after childhood games like Simon Says. They have expanded their rub-on line with MiniMarks, added new colors to their chipboard album line, and created foam letter stickers called "Thickers."

  • Bazzill improves on their cardstock line with new embellishments, including additional Chip Toppers, Ribbon Brads, Cardstock with an Edge and Bazzill Blossoms, and the all-new Bitty Blossoms.

  • BasicGrey has instant attraction with their unique magnetic buckles, snaps and tiebacks, which are a terrific way to add closures, hide journaling, or connect ribbons. The two new paper lines (LilyKate and Gypsy / Romani) are great as well.

  • Bo Bunny serves up collections that sound good enough to eat, such as Raspberrie Pie, Sweet and Sour, and Harvest Spice (link is to .pdf file). There are 28 collections in all, accented with Bodacious Brads, rub-ons, ribbons, flowers, stickers, and self-adhesive charms.

  • Chatterbox has twelve new collections of papers named for rooms. Their Clear Cuts transparency stickers layer over included cardstock shadows, while Sticker Fuzz (fuzzy alphabet stickers!), Stick Outs, Box Letters, and Love Tiles provide other self-stick options.

  • Cosmo Cricket is a new company created by the designers of the Comstock Collection. They have used their talents to come up with four fresh lines of cardstock, diecut sheets, stickers, paper, Itty Bitty Albums and Cigar Boxes filled with chipboard letters.

  • Crate Paper deserves the buzz they generated with their five new product lines, which feature classic designs in unique patterns on cardstock with coordinating diecuts and stickers. The Crate Bands diecuts make adding borders to your pages a cinch.

  • Creative Imaginations encompasses so many lines with so many new products that I'll just mention their new brand called "Bare Elements," which they describe as "an eclectic assortment of products ready to decorate." Picture purses, clutches, tins, cases, frames, puzzles, and books, all waiting for you to add your favorite papers and embellishments.

  • Cropper Hopper knows how to store scrapbook supplies with new embellishment drawers, bags and boxes, as well as ribbon spool drawers-ribbon storage done right!

  • Diecuts with a View has gone oriental with their classy Far East line of papers, sold in their signature stacks. Their Glitter Pocket Full of Posies Stack combines flowers and paisleys with glitter. I like their Decoupage sets for creating home decor projects.

  • Doodlebug eliminates the need to cut border strips with their wonderful new Paper Frills, which will add a lacy touch to your layouts. Their four new themed paper collections tap into childhood memories for inspiration.

  • Dove of the East has followed their China Journey collection with the Russia Journey collection. The papers are elegant, reflecting the fairy-tale beauty of Russia under the czars. The treasure box that holds embellishments is decorated with princes and princesses and will add to your home decor.

  • EK Success has designed a Curvy Cutter tool that easily cuts circles, ovals, and rounded squares. It really works! They also have new embellishments that feature characters we all know and love such as Shrek, Curious George, the Little Mermaid, Nemo, and the Incredibles.

  • Everlasting Keepsakes has expanded their chipboard line to include Framedangoes, Alpha O! Mega! Letters (11 ¾" tall chipboard letters) and Chipz Oriental Takeout (fourteen oriental chipboard symbols in a Chinese takeout box).

  • Fancy Pants Designs brings chipboard to a new level with Biggest Board, a full 12"x12" of chipboard designs. Pair with their papers for elegant and fun layouts.

  • Far and Away has gone all the way to the Far East for the "Welcome to Asia" line. The papers have subtle Oriental patterns, in blues, pinks, oranges, and greens. Their other collection will take you away on "Planes, Trains & Automobiles." The papers feature different modes of transportation, and the prints are subtle enough that they won't overpower your pages.

  • Fiskars has added to their line of tools with new rotary trimmers and Squeeze Punches which you have to see to understand! They require less force than regular punches and allow you to easily see where you are punching.

  • Fontwerks has new acrylic stamp sets designed by scrapbook "celebs," including Elsie Flannigan, Tia Bennett, Emily Falconbridge, Kate Teague, and Katie Pertiet.

  • Heidi Swapp is amazing, because even when pregnant, she can come up with creative ideas! Look for bling jewel art, clever chipboard, flowers, and clocks. The journaling spots are a must-see.

  • Imaginisce has jumped into the business with four great collections of papers, ribbons and embellishments, called "Exotic East," "Kewl Stuff," "More Than Mistletoe," and "Sam & Abby." They top those off with an embellishment collection called "Just for Frills" that includes large brads, teensy tags and sentimental sliders.

  • Karen Foster has the goal of introducing 15-20 new lines every release, so there is plenty to choose from here. You can't go wrong with pirate, outer space, coach, and bedtime lines! The collections are accented by Big Time Brads, Page Hangers, Metal Signs and Pinch Tabs.

  • Making Memories always wows me, and this release is no exception. Don't miss the blossoms, wall text, precision paper trimmer, slot punching tool and shimmer kits.

  • Purple Cows has the answer for those who can't choose between guillotine and rotary trimmers: a combination cutter that has both!

  • Memories Complete offers unique circle stickers to coordinate with their cardstock lines. Being a frugal shopper, I like their $1 line, and their themed 3-packs of playing cards are an inventive idea.

  • MiMi is what you will say in answer to "Who wants the new MiMi Digiscrap Laptop Tote?" It holds a digital camera, CDs, papers, a laptop and the cords, and comes in kiwi microsuede, black with robin's blue interior, lilac, and pink.

  • Mustard Moon has me over the moon with their Big Honkin' Rub-ons because they are such a great size and they apply beautifully. Their two new paper lines are terrific too.

  • Paper Salon introduces four stylish lines in greens, blues, pinks, and reds, called Dazzle (a Christmas collection!), All Stitched Up, Harmony and Tribeca.

  • Queen and Co ‘gets' women-how can we pass up Fontastics chipboard alphabets in an adorable purse, Beadifuls beads in a lip-gloss tube, or Sassy Sequin flowers and brads in a double-sided black pot?!

  • Reminisce has gone "Back to School" with a sheet of word stickers for each grade all the way up through 12th grade. Two collections of Halloween papers, one for bigger kids and one for younger kids, and a collection of Christmas papers with candy cane diecut stickers will improve your holiday pages. You'll want to go to Hawaii just to be able to use the Tropical Fusion collection.

  • Rusty Pickle hit one out of the park with their summer release, with something for everyone. Collections include patriotic, pet, family, Halloween, and Christmas.

  • Sandylion has The Essential Disney Idea Book (not-yet-released at the time of this article's publish date) full of ideas for Disney-based layouts. And don't miss the bubbly Kelly Panacci paper line in blues, greens, oranges and pinks.

  • Sassafras Lass will have you flipping for their new Flip-a-roo stamps-stamp one side for a solid background, and then flip it to stamp the image. Their two new paper lines, Playtime and Daydream, will make you flip with joy.

  • Scenic Route presents two new collections of cardstock with stickers, chipboard, and rub-ons. The Hampton set has a lively orange, pink, light blue and green palette, while Cape Town includes bold reds, blacks, creams, and greens.

  • Scrapworks borrows the texture of canvas to create three new collections, called "Citrus," "Seaside," and "Botanic." Each set includes canvas-textured paper, ribbon, puzzle pieces, and canvas tabs.

  • SEI consistently delivers great new paper sets. Check out Halloween Hoopla with matching tags, tabs, stickers, rub-ons, ribbons, iron-ons, buttons, and brads-the whole package!

  • Three Bugs in a Rug coordinates their new sets of papers with Bazzill cardstock's yummy colors. My favorite is the Rhapsody set in lovely purples and aquas! Embellishments include monograms, diecut tags and Chitchat word stickers.

  • Traditions Studio takes you beyond scrapbooking to showcase your creativity in your home. Choose from multi-photo clocks, scrapbook frames, and my favorite, sphere globes. (Imagine your favorite photo inside a snow globe!)

  • We R Memory Keepers have added more planner pages and storage solutions to their Memory Dock line. They have also added embellishments to the Comstock line, including designer snaps and eyelets (sets of six decorated painted metal embellishments) and Dip Sticks (tags of various materials dipped in paint).

  • Xyron has made using their Design Runner even easier by adding a guide which helps you move the Runner in a straight line. Another guide aids you in creating perfect arcs.

That's my wishlist. Now I'm off to check my budget!
