My Scrap Cube
It might not be much, but my scrap "cube" (as I like to call it) is all mine. This was originally a storage room. Wait, scratch storage room. It was a junk room! It was literally filled to the brim with boxes and Rubbermaid containers. We had made the move from a larger home to a smaller one and this was the designated room where we threw everything that we couldn't find a place for. Fortunately for me, it was also an open opportunity. All I had to do was throw in a little elbow grease and some organization and voila, my little piece of scrap heaven. My place to go to when I need peace. When I need to create. The one place I can always clear my head. While the room is small, I have tried to take advantage of the space that I have. I go up, instead of out. I use plenty of little storage bins and baskets (that I find for super cheap). I love nothing more than finding a little storage goody on sale! Photo One: This is the "computer" station area. My laptop and my husband's PC fit comfortably on this corner desk. This desk is a lifesaver! It not only provides a place to house the computers, but it provides excellent storage for some of my favorite scrapping embellishments and tools. Photo Two: This is on the opposite side of the room (keep in mind I'm working in essentially a 6' x 6' box!). This was the old computer desk that I turned into my sewing area. It is also home to my tools, paints, pens, glitters, stamping ink, punches and some of my stamps. The top is where my ribbon jars are stored, as well as some mini albums. Photo Three: Right next to the desk is a smaller "work station." This is a small cabinet that is perfect for both storage and work space. Here is where I store my Sizzix, QuicKutz, scissors, Coluzzle, trimmer and adhesive. I store my albums, more stamps and other odds and ends in the actual cabinet. Photo Four: At the far end of the room is where my girls create. On their little table sits a Rubbermaid storage container that holds their markers, paints, crayons and things of that nature. Directly behind them (not pictured) is the closet. It holds their coloring books and paper as well as my extra papers, layouts and odds and ends. Photo Five: Last but not least is the essential paper and embellishment storage. I am still working at this. I'm happy with my paper storage, but, I really want a real paper rack or paper cabinet. My father has promised me a hand-made cabinet, so we'll see! The large Rubbermaid containers house my embellishments. I have everything from Coluzzle templates, Sizzix dies, small embellishment containers, Provo Craft embellishments and foam stamps. The smaller Rubbermaid containers hold smaller embellishments and stamps. My little room is definitely "me." It's simple with a splash of color here and there. There's paint on the carpet, and smudges from tiny fingers on the walls. It's small, but it's comfortable. Most of all it's my haven. I can create on the floor while the girls create at their little table. I couldn't possibly ask for more!
