The Sound of Scrapping

The house is alive with the Sound of Scrapping! Sing along with the Rodgers & Hammerstein melody of “My Favorite Things” while we explore my scrap space and storage solutions. “Ribbons in glass jars “Cream colored laces, “Stored so neatly, As you might surmise, the music area of my home has been invaded by my scrap space. The area that used to house our books and music now sings to my scrapping tune. ![]() I like to keep ‘my favorite things’ out on my table to inspire me--a ceramic swan, a Mary Engelbreit knickknack, an ice cream cone ornament, stuffed Eeyores, a polka-dotted ball, favorite family photos, my slinky. All of these items take me to a “happy place” and give me a creative jump-start when I’m designing. This corner of my living room has a huge window that gives me plenty of natural light and allows a quiet view of our backyard. While sitting in my comfortable desk chair, I am constantly delighted by the many birds that come to the hanging feeder outside that window. ![]() The three main furniture pieces in my room are a Pottery Barn desk, a roll-top oak desk and a tall set of lawyer-type bookshelves with glass doors. I have a smaller bookcase, facing my desk, that hides behind the love-seat when viewed from the living area. Those shelves hold my albums. ![]()
The roll-top desk has many compartments and drawers for storing all sorts of tiny embellishments, die cuts, papers, and idea books. The lawyer-style bookcases hold mesh boxes, baskets and little drawers for more storage. Most of my stamps are stored in white pizza-style boxes on the bottom shelves.
