Product Review: Scrap-eze Hanging File Page Planner

by Denise Gormish (Nov 19, 2008)

I love being organized when I am scrapping. I like to plan what photographs, papers and embellishments I will use for a certain page and then keep them stored together. I was delighted when I saw Scrap-eze make that organizational scheme easier. With the Scrap-eze Hanging File Page Planner I can organize my papers, photos, embellishments and memorabilia for one page all in one place.

1_207In the past, I have used 12" x 12" page protectors for storing items, but the Scrap-eze Hanging File Page Planner is a much better option. The polypropylene makes the Scrap-eze Hanging File Page Planner very sturdy but lightweight. With the clear design, I can easily see what is in the Scrap-eze Hanging File Page Planner.

The size of the Scrap-eze Hanging File Page Planner is also very convenient. The Scrap-eze Hanging File Page Planner consists of two pockets. The larger 13" x 13" pocket works well for cardstock and patterned paper. The 7" x 13" pocket holds smaller items such as photographs, stickers, rub-ons, embellishments and memorabilia.

The Scrap-eze Hanging File Page Planner has two hanging file tabs on the top. These allow the page planner to be hung in the Scrap-eze Vertical Storage Organizer. Since the size of the planner is 13", it will not hang in regular drawer filing systems. Therefore, the Scrap-eze Vertical Storage Organizer is a necessity to use the hanging file option of the page planner.

Having all your paper and items for a layout in one place is really a great way to be prepared for crops and to get started quickly on a layout. The Scrap-eze Hanging File Page Planner really helps give that quick start.

I did find a few potential disadvantages with the Scrap-eze Hanging File Page Planner. While the pocket is 13" tall, it is a tight squeeze to include 12" x 12" patterned paper that has the extra 1/2" manufacturer's tab. Make sure to store these patterned papers with the tabs facing horizontally to the side. For example, I could only get two pieces of BasicGrey paper to fit comfortably with the extra tab on the top. Otherwise, the lid would not close. On the other hand, if I flipped the papers so the extra 1/2" tab was on the side, I could get as many as 10 pages in the folder.

The Scrap-eze Hanging File Page Planner definitely shines when used for holding paper and embellishments for one layout. It will not hold lots of paper without busting open or having items fall out of the larger pocket. Do not jam too much into the larger pocket.

Scrap-eze has a coordinated line of organizational products. The Scrap-eze Vertical Storage Organizer Kit is a great place to start. It contains one Page In Progress Folder, one Scrap Storage Folder, six Hanging Folders, six Sliding Index Tabs and one Vertical Storage Organizer. You can purchase the Vertical Storage Organizer separately. I highly recommend the organizer for storing your Scrap-eze Hanging File Page Planner. Another product is the Scrap-eze Hanging File Folder, which is a file folder for the Vertical Storage Organizer but without the extra small pocket. It holds up to 60 pages in each folder. The Scrap-eze Hanging File Scrap Storage holds large items like the Hanging File Folder but also has two smaller pockets for small items. Finally, the Scrap-eze One-Third Cut Folder Dividers provides additional organization by allowing the folders to be subdivided.

Get organized and ready for your next crop with the Scrap-eze Hanging File Page Planner.
