Housewarming Gift Ideas

When I moved into my first house four years ago, a group of friends each bought me a kitchen utensil, which they housed in a large pot and presented to me as a housewarming gift. As an avid cook, I appreciated the thoughtful gift and I am still using many of the utensils today. Since you have all those scrapbook supplies sitting around, you could turn those papers and embellishments into something that would be worthy to adorn the walls and tables of your friend's new home. In this article we will explore a few ideas to turn those supplies into lovely gifts. One of my favorite gifts to give for a housewarming is a potted plant. If your new-home-owning friend does not have a green thumb, why not give them a plant that no amount of neglect can destroy? Another gift I love to give is a picture frame. I can spend hours at Target looking for the perfect frame, but new is not always necessary. This old window frame (pictured to the right) was given to me by a friend. I decided to alter the panes by cutting out This is a great gift for newlyweds. If you have access, gather photos from various outings, creating a visual history of their dating period, then completing the last frame with their wedding photo. You could also use other themes such as previous homes, the growth of their family, or your friendship. The possibilities are endless. Lastly, how about a simple housewarming card?
