Need a Gift? Give a Treat Box!
Have you ever made a treat box? You know, a little goodie box with candy or something fun in it to give as a gift. Well, if you have not, now is your time to try one. Not only are they fun to make but they are especially fun to receive! Gather Your Supplies First you will need to find a box to use. I used an old Stampin' Up plastic container but I know any of the Maya Road tins would work as well as many other containers that could be recycled. Use your imagination. Other supplies I used for my treat box included: - buttons
- candy
- cardstock (two different colors)
- chipboard accent (I used a butterfly)
- contact paper
- DMC floss
- patterned paper (two different patterns)
- ribbon
- sticker letters and tags
- Stickles
Time to Create Now that you have your box and supplies, it is time to put your treat box together. - Trace the lid of box onto your patterned paper and cut it out.
- Trace your patterned paper piece onto a piece of contact paper and onto a piece of cardstock. Cut both of these out. These will be used later.
- Using a glue stick, adhere your patterned paper piece to the top of your box. Cover with the piece of contact paper that you cut out earlier.
- Trace the chipboard butterfly onto your paper and cut it out.
- Punch holes in the top wings of the butterfly and stitch with DMC floss.
- After stitching, use a glue stick and adhere the paper butterfly to the chipboard butterfly.
- Using Glue Dots, adhere the butterfly, ribbon, and buttons to your box.
- Use sticker letters, die cut letters, etc., to decorate your box.
- Using Stickles, go around the edge of the butterfly and the edge of the box. Let dry.
- Take the piece of cardstock you cut out in step two, and adhere to the underside of the lid. Write your name, a note, or whatever you like on the cardstock.
- Fill box with candies or other goodies to complete.
Finished Product Here is how my treat box turned out. It was simple, fast, and fun to make.
So, grab a box and get altering. They truly are fun and easy to make! And you will certainly brighten someone's day!
