Fabulous Photo Wreaths
I have a fun idea I want to share with you. If you have not tried making your own photo wreath I think you should take a trip to your local craft or thrift store, pick up a wreath or two, and then give this fabulous project idea a try. These make wonderful gifts for all seasons, and are an excellent way to incorporate photographs and your favorite scrapbook papers in your home décor. This first wreath is actually a Christmas tree decoration. I'm using a small wreath ornament I purchased at a thrift shop for a mere twenty-five cents! I printed my photo in a wallet size, and used a circle craft punch to create the mini photo that sits in the center of the white velvet flower on this cute little project. There are numerous ways to attach your photos to your wreath. If you mount them onto decorative papers you can punch a hole in the top and attach them with ribbons, wire, jute, or any other decorative material. Photos can also be glued directly to the wreath or glued onto tags and attached with small rings. Be creative, and don't be afraid to add beads or other decorative elements to make your wreath unique. I used ribbons to attach the photos to this lovely sage green and bronze berry wreath. This item is intended as a gift, so I'll include a long piece of sage-colored wired ribbon so that the recipient of this gift can tie a bow and hang the wreath at whatever length looks best with their décor. The sepia-toned photos and scalloped edges of the vellum photo mats help to give this piece a sweet and whimsical style, perfect for a country- or shabby-chic-styled room. For a little something special I added word charms, a gold clock charm, beads, and sage-colored wire. If you want a cleaner or more modern look you can alter not only the material that the wreath is composed of, but also the style, size, and shape of the photos. For these modern candle rings I chose silver berry wreaths, which are very simple in style. I also used square-shaped photos printed in black and white and attached the photos to the wreaths using metal rings. The red eyelets and twisting red wire further add to the modern feeling of these pieces. Reproduction vintage images also make wonderful holiday and home décor accents. This Halloween wreath was completed by a talented artist named Caleen Beatty. Caleen created this wreath using vintage Halloween images that she backed onto paper rosettes. These rosettes are nestled in the wreath along with fun beads and twists of chenille pipe cleaner. I think this project would be adorable with vintage baby images for a baby shower. Have I inspired you to try creating your own personalized photo wreath yet? I hope so! This is the perfect time of year to find wreaths for sale at your local craft stores, or if you are really creative you can get the materials and create your own wreaths to add photos to. I hope you'll take some time and create a photo wreath or two of your own, and then share your creations with us in the Scrapjazz.com forums. I think you'll be really pleased with the results.
