Thanksgiving Décor and More

Thanksgiving is the perfect time to create your own custom decorations and crafts. Creating these special handmade items for your family and friends is just another way of saying, "I treasure you, and I'm thankful you're in my life." I started my décor project by taking a trip to my local thrift store. There I was able to find a few items just waiting to be transformed. I chose five autumnal shades of patterned papers and mixed in five coordinating solid cardstock papers. To that I added some rust and golden accents such as flower petals and ribbons. ![]() Candle Tray and Candle Wraps
Supplies:
Candle Tray Instructions: Cut floral patterned paper smaller than the inside of the tray. Mount onto solid colored cardstock and trim to the same size as the interior of your candle tray. Use temporary adhesive to hold the paper to the bottom of your tray. Candle Wrap Instructions: Cut three different colored strips of cardstock 8 ½" x 2". Stamp the word "Gratitude" several times along this strip with embossing ink. Heat emboss using gold embossing powder. Wrap each piece around a candle and adhere with permanent adhesive. Add brown ribbon along the top edge of the paper. Add a silk flower with a bronze decorative brad to the tallest candle. Place Cards
Supplies:
Instructions: Trim cardstock to 3" x 4" in size. Fold in half to create your place card. Trim patterned paper scraps to 1" x 3" in size and adhere to the front of your card. Center a piece of decorative ribbon over the patterned paper. Stamp the name of your guest onto the card. Stamp "Give Thanks" (or another appropriate holiday greeting) in the bottom left corner of your card. Napkin Rings
Supplies:
Instructions: Trim multiple autumnal shades of cardstock to 1 ½" x 6". Trim striped patterned paper 1" x 6" in size and adhere to the top of the cardstock strips. To the center of each piece use a brass or copper brad to attach silk flowers. Curve each piece into a ring and adhere using a strong adhesive. For additional support staple the backside of each napkin ring.
Supplies:
Instructions: Cut out 4" x 4" squares and round the corners. Stamp the word "Gratitude" onto each coaster. Laminate each coaster, trim and round corners. Menu
Supplies:
Instructions: Print menu onto cardstock. Trim, ink edges, and mount onto a coordinating color. Trim, ink, and place onto background paper. Cut a strip of patterned paper; adhere to a larger cardstock strip. Ink and attach to the background. Print out the word, "Menu." Trim, ink, and adhere to the center of your patterned strip. Attach with a brass brad on the right and then attach a silk flower with a large decorative brad on the left. Use a wood easel to showcase your menu. Serving Tray
Supplies:
Instructions: Paint your tray with several thin layers of gold spray paint. Allow it to dry completely between coats. Create a mosaic along the bottom of the tray using patterned and solid papers of various sizes. Stamp the word "Gratitude" on one small area. Accent with a silk flower. Punch a small circle, detail with pens, and place in the center of your flower accent. Use foam stamps and brown acrylic paint to stamp the word "FAMILY" onto the tray. Apply paint to the stamps in a thin layer using a foam brush for best results. Have a piece of glass cut to the inside dimensions of your tray to protect the paper from spills - or simply get your collage laminated and attach to the bottom of your tray with temporary adhesive. This gives you the option of changing out your collage for each occasion! Try this: Add photos to your coasters or tray bottom for a fun, personal project.
