CHA Chicago 2006: Trends Part II

by Karina Worlton (Aug 31, 2006)

Yesterday in Part I we noted some of the theme- and style-based trends on display at CHA Chicago 2006. Today we'll touch on some of the product categories and colors that recurred often at the show.

Products

The list of product types available at CHA would fill several pages of text, but I'll narrow it down to a few. Here are some categories that were popular:

Colors

I was delighted to see the variety of colors available in the different company product lines. Still, there were a few colors and color combinations that showed up frequently.

Oranges

Purples

Pink and green

Light blue and red

Blue, orange, and green

Brand New

These products are too new to be trends, but perhaps they might start a trend in the future.

  • Page in Progress Box is a brand-new product from a brand-new company. The box can be used to store an unfinished layout, because all elements of the layout are held in place with magnets. Whenever you get a chance to return to work on the page, everything will be exactly as you left it.
  • The Laser Guide Trimmer has two lasers to help you align your photos and embellishments, decide exactly where to trim your papers, and journal without drawing lines. The rotary trimmer is made by Possibilities.
  • The Power Crimp & Cut allows you to crimp in five unique textures or cut five different borders (including pinking, deckle, victorian, lattice and scallop). It is also made by Possibilities.

Trends come and go, and are influenced by fads and fashions. Whether you try every new trend that comes along, or only read about it, trends influence what products are available for you to purchase. Perhaps the best part of learning about trends is finding new ways to create scrapbook pages, which will outlive all trends.
