Memory Trends 2004 Review

(Oct 11, 2004)
Memory Trends Trade Show, sponsored by Craftrends Magazine, is an annual fall exhibition for scrapbook and other creative arts companies. I have attended it the last two years, and want to share some of what I saw in 2004 with you. ![]() First of all, it was amazing to see that the show almost doubled in size since last year! This year, the exhibits were held in two separate halls instead of one, which meant a lot more walking and a lot more to see. The scrapbook industry has grown and expanded, both in the number of companies and in the variety of products offered by the companies. Because Memory Trends follows closely after ACCI, most of the large companies, like Making Memories and Chatterbox, didn’t debut big amounts of new product. But, all the companies still had something new to offer, many of them showing off new winter/holiday paper lines and idea books. There were also a few brand new scrapbook companies debuting at this show. Did I see anything that ‘knocked my socks off’? Yes. It may seem impossible, but there are now even more beautiful, incredible papers and embellishments. The variety amazes me. From retro to vintage, from grunge to cute, the designs seem endless. There definitely are supplies to meet all styles and tastes! Did I notice any trends? Yes. I was interested to see that several companies are incorporating home décor items into their product lines, and encouraging the use of their products in ways beyond traditional scrapbooks. So, to make this easy on all of us, I’ve created a list of what was new that caught my eye at Memory Trends. (I couldn’t possible include everything!) I’ve grouped products into several different categories. The links will take you to photos and product descriptions. Enjoy! And be sure to add your own review to any of the new products you buy and use! Home Décor/Alternative: Holiday Papers: Patterned Papers: Cool New Embellishments:
