I discovered scrapbooking shortly after the birth of my great nephew Alec. It was 1998, also the year that I began my current career, teaching Art at a small public school in Arkansas. Luckily, my BFA in Studio Art that got me the job that I love so much also helps me to create the albums that I cherish.
As a single woman without children of my own, I realize that I don’t fit the stereotype of the typical scrapper. My most frequent subjects are Alec, who I mentioned above, and his new baby sister Hannah. As the youngest of 9 girls, I’m blessed with several nephews and nieces that are willing subjects for my creative pursuits. I also keep a school scrapbook and a “ME” book, which I find I love to work on.
I have been fortunate enough to be published several times in many of the well-known scrapbook magazines and idea books. I have enjoyed writing several articles on our favorite subject, many can be seen at scrapbooking.com.
Art Journaling and Altered Books are a new passion of mine. I absorb all the new publications on the market as soon as they come out. When I’m passionate about something, as I am paper arts, it tends to become an obsession or addiction.
Reading has also been a life long hobby. I recently learned how to knit, which will make a great layout for my book.
I love to learn new things and experiment with different materials. I hope that I can inspire you with the work I now do here at Scrapjazz.
