Christmas on the Coast

Your talents are in need down on the Gulf Coast. As you all know the Gulf Coast of Mississippi and New Orleans area was hit very hard by Katrina. Waveland Mississippi and the surrounding area was hit dead on by the eye of the storm and we are working to help this area to build a new and to begin new memories. On December 18, 2005 we will be having a special Christmas day for this area. This day will be called Christmas on the Coast. The adults will be able to pick out free Christmas presents for their family and the kids will be able to choose some for mom and dad. The people of Waveland will be able to ice skate and play in man made snow. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served. To capture this special day cameras will be given to each family and a new memory book to keep them safe.

We would like to ask each Scrapbooking club if they would be willing to create these wonderful memory books. We are in need of 8,000 books. They can be as simple as you like or as creative as you desire. You may put the name of your club on the back of the book so that the people of Waveland Mississippi would know who is thinking of them.

When the Memory books are competed you may send them to:

Christmas on the Coast
c/o Christian Life Church
25550 Canal Road
Orange Beach, Al 36561

Please email me back with the name of the clubs that would like to created books for us and how many they would like to make. I was thinking a 5 by 7 size would be good . Thank you for making this day a day to remember and preparing a place for them to keep their memories close to their hearts.

If you would like to include a Christmas gift for some one you may send it to the address above as well. We ask you not to wrap it. The parents will be able to wrap them on that day. We are in need of camera for that day too. Thank you for your help on the memory books.

I would like including a few news articles and a letter about Christian Life Church and all that they are doing down in Waveland, Mississippi, but there is not enough space if you would like more information please email me.

Thanks again for your kindness,

Scrappers Helping Scrappers Yahoo Group

MISCRAPSWAP, a Michigan based Yahoo Group, has recently created a subgroup to help scrapbookers affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita---ScrappersHelpingScrappers.

We would like to invite anyone else interested in coordinating efforts to help fellow scrappers affected by the hurricanes to join us as well.

Scrapbooking unites us all on a special creative level. We hope that this sub group will be used to help ease the pains of tragedy and to reach out to scrappers in need by sharing extra supplies and adopting a scrapper who has recently experienced a tragedy.

Please join us there if you know of a scrapper who needs to be adopted, or if you would like to adopt a scrapper as well.

Blessings-
Barbarita Lee. MISCRAPSWAP OWNER

Luv2Scrapbook and you helping others…..

As you are all aware, many citizens of our country have had their lives devastated by hurricane Katrina. If any of you have ever been involved in a disaster, you know that the American Red Cross is there immediately to be of assistance. That organization has indicated that it is in dire need of funds to assist those who are homeless and in need as a result of the recent storm.

In pondering what we could do to help, we have decided to have a SCRAP-A-THON until the end of September. Each of you will make a commitment to scrapbook so many pages between now and the end of the month. You will seek pledges for the number of pages that you scrapbook. The money you raise will be sent to the American Red Cross to be used for assistance to hurricane victims. Our goal is to raise at least $1000.

Pledges may be made by check payable to Luv2Scrapbook or cash. Attached is a pledge sheet. Please sign the top and return the sheets with any money that is pledged. We will then in turn send all of these funds to the Red Cross.

We will keep a tally on our website to show you what kind of funds we have raised to date. Please keep us posted on your progress.

As you know, memory preservation is critical. Imagine the pictures and memories that these individuals have lost along with everything else. Let’s do what we can to help them. Please pass this along to family and friends and get as many people as you can involved in this cause.

Also, join us for an all day SCRAP-A-THON Saturday, September 24th from 9am-9pm. Food will be provided. Come and scrap to meet your goal. 20% of all sales for that day will also go to the Red Cross Relief Fund.

Sincerely,

Karen Monroe
