Uploading Layouts to Scrapjazz

by Andrea Steed (Jan 8, 2003)

Uploading layouts in the scrapjazz gallery is quick, easy, and encouraged! Below you’ll find instructions and suggestions for how to best use the galleries.

Uploading Layouts
To upload layouts, you must have a registered Scrapjazz account (free). If you do not have one, you can register here. Then follow these simple instructions:

  1. Go to the “gallery” section of the scrapjazz site.

  2. Click on “upload layouts” at the bottom of the toolbar on the left.

  3. Browse your machine and find the layout that you want to include.

  4. Enter your page title.

  5. In the “Layout Description” section, you can add any comments, your have about the layout.

  6. Next, enter your layout supply list. We recommend adding full product lists and how-to descriptions whenever possible. It's helpful to people who are veiwing your layouts to know how they were made.

  7. If you'd like to share the journaling on your page, you can enter the text in the next box, labeled "Journaling".

  8. Choose the category that your layout belongs in. For example, if you are uploading a "birthday" layout: In the drop down menu, look under “Themes”, then find “Birthday”, and click on that category.

  9. You can choose whether you want to be emailed whenever someone posts comments about that layout. If you choose yes, anytime someone posts a comment about your layout, you will receive an e-mail notifying you.

  10. Click on "Upload Your Layout." You should then see your layout in the gallery. Your layout will be added to both the category that you chose at the top AND your own personal gallery. If you did not choose a category, it will be in your member gallery only.

Uploading Tips

  • Take a look at our scanning and stitching tips, and our image size suggestions. We require images to be under 100K and less than 750 pixels wide or tall. Smaller file sizes will help others see your images faster and keep more space available in your member gallery.

  • If you are uploading a two-page layout as two separate pages (instead of stitched together in one image), upload the second page first, and the first page second. This way, the layout will appear in the correct order in the gallery.

Editing Layouts
There may be times when you want to edit a layout that you have uploaded. Just go to that layout, and click on the link that says: “Edit This Layout”. You can then change the the title, your description, supply list or journaling. You may also delete the image, replace it with another image, or move the entire layout to a new category. This is especially handy if you already have layouts uploaded to the scrapjazz site that fit in a new month’s theme, technique, or product. You can easily move your layout to that gallery and include it in our monthly contests.

Summary of Galleries
Here is a brief summary of what each gallery consists of to help you determine where the best place to upload your layout will be.

**Photographs should NOT be uploaded to the gallery unless they are of a scrap space and are uploaded to the Scrap Space gallery. If you would like ideas for a layout regarding a specific photograph, please attach the photo to a thread in the "Stumped Scrappers" forum or share your photographs in the "Photography" forum. This system helps us keep our gallery focused and more easily searchable. Photographs uploaded to the gallery will be deleted.

Member Galleries -- The Member Galleries are personal albums for each member of the jazzclub that has uploaded layouts. If you have registered a username and password with us (a free service), then you can create your own album of layouts on our site. Every layout that you upload will be included in your personal member gallery. You also have the option to include your layout in a second category as well! For example, if you are uploading a layout that uses a technique that we have started a gallery for (i.e. tags) then you can upload your layout to your member gallery and an additional gallery by choosing the category for tags!

Theme/Technique/Product Spotlight Galleries -- Every month scrapjazz will feature a monthly theme, technique and products. We encourage you to upload layouts using the featured theme, technique or products, not only to share your ideas with others, but also to enter to win great prizes! Each month, the layouts uploaded before the 27th of the month in the current contest galleries will be entered into a contest. We will announce winners on the first of the following month. Even though the contest ends at the end of the month, you can continue to upload layouts into those sections for as long as you want!

Paper Piecing Gallery -- If you make paper piecings and would like to share them and/or the patterns on the scrapjazz site, we have a place for you to upload your paper piecings in these galleries. We have a section for advanced paper piecings, basic paper piecings, and paper piecing patterns. Feel free to include any instructions or tips that you have along with your completed paper piecings and patterns.

Cards Gallery -- Many scrapbookers enjoy creating cards with their scrapbooking supplies. This gallery is available to get and give ideas on cardmaking using your scrapbooking supplies.

Layout Starters Gallery -- Here you'll find sketches and designs meant to inspire a layout. Feel free to add sketches or inspiration pieces that inspire you.

Scrap Spaces Gallery -- This gallery is available to show different scrap spaces, organization tools, and to get some ideas of how to organize all of the scrapbooking supplies and tools that we accumulate...(and use of course!)

Theme Albums Gallery -- Small theme albums can be seen in their entirety in this gallery. If you create theme albums and would like to share the whole book, post them in this gallery.
