How To: Create a Text Box

Open Microsoft Word and click on “Insert”. Scroll down until you find “Text Box,” and click on it. Now click on your layout where you would like to add your text box. The text box will appear.
Next, choose your font by selecting “Format” and then “Fonts”. Then type the text. If you change your mind, you can highlight the text and adjust the font settings, size and color under “Format” and then “Fonts.” To adjust the settings on the text box itself click on the text box and go to “Format” on the toolbar. Scroll down until you find “Text Box” from the menu, and click on it. Here there are three main areas of interest to the scrapbooker: The first is “Color and Lines”. To adjust the background color in a text box, select a “Fill” color, or select “No Fill” if no color is desired. Changing the background color to “semitransparent” is an option as well.  There will always initially be a line around the text box. To get rid of this line, select “No Line”. Alternatively, you may also change the line color or make it dashed. The second area is “Size”, which may be adjusted if you have specific dimensions you are working with. The third area is called “Layout”. This feature allows other text from the word document or even other text boxes to be placed over or under the selected text box you are presently working with. Slide your mouse around over the box until you see four interlocking cross arrows. This allows you to move the text box around the page. The small dots on the periphery of the box help you size your box appropriately.
