Using E-Cuts Printables in Digital Scrapbooking
Don't let the name fool you - Scrapbook.com's E-Cuts Printables aren't just for paper-and-glue scrappers! Printables are perfect for digital scrapbookers too! Here are a few tips for using Kristine Bents' gorgeous Winter Series E-Cuts (found here , here and here) in PSE. E-Cuts Printables are PDF files, so you will have to manually open them in PSE (or other imaging software). To do this (after purchasing and downloading the files), Right-Click on the file and choose Open With>PSE. Once you open the Printable in PSE, use your Lasso tool to "cut out" the pieces. Using the Move tool, drag them to a new document (your layout). Continue this process until you have all the pieces you want on your layout document. Close the PDF files, being sure to click NO when asked if you want to save the Printables again. To place your photos behind the ribbon-wrapped photo mat (see my focal picture), follow these steps: - Use your Lasso tool to "cut" the paper from the inside of the mat. Once the "marching ants" are around this section, right-click and select "Copy via Cut".
- Delete this piece.
- Follow these steps for the pieces of photo mat at the corners.
- Open your photo and using the Move tool, drag it onto your layout. Close original photo.
- Place the photo behind the mat by clicking on the Layers palette, clicking and holding the photo layer, and dragging it under the mat layer.
- Move the photo until it is in the desired location. In the Layers palette, click the box next to the photo mat layer to link them. Now you can move and re-size the photo mat and picture together as you create your layout.
To place your photos under the eyelets, click on the Selection tool and choose a non-feathered brush the same size as the outside of the eyelet. Click to select. Once selected, right-click and choose "Copy via Cut". Place your photo as desired on the photo mat, moving it behind the eyelet layers if needed (see bullets above). - To remove the white background from inside the eyelets, click on the mat layer, and use your Magic Wand and click on the white. Once the marching ants are around the white, simply hit Delete. Now your eyelets look like they are holding the mat and photo together!
- In the Layers palette, click the box next to the photo mat layer and each of the eyelets to link them. Now you can move and re-size the photo mat, eyelets, and picture together as you create your layout.
Now you're ready to create your layout! Create background and journaling "cardstock" using colors from the Printables, and add journaling, photos, and elements as desired! With E-Cuts Printables, all the work has been done for you! And best of all, you can use these Printables as many times as you'd like! Create matching Christmas cards, ornaments, or gifts for giving or keeping! And make sure to check out the full line of E-Cuts Printables at Scrapbook.com!
