Pros: inexpensive, variety of sizes
Cons:

After much debate and reading of reveiws I purchased my XPCS a week ago and couldn't be happier. I have seen many reviews sighting faulty mats as the issue, but I have not had a problem with mine. After multiple uses, the fiber from the paper will stick to the mat causing additional paper to not stick ; the key is to make sure the mat stays clean. A lint roller is great for keeping the mat clean and sticky. I also saw people complaining about the price of replacement blades and mats. Xyron has reduced the prices, a new blade will cost around $13 and mats $10 for 5....I think that is a pretty good deal! Overall I am very happy with the product, and would definately recommend buying one!

Pros: not that expensive
Cons: needs to cut smaller letters

I too had a few initial problems with this machine. But once I got one that works, (Xyron had to send me replacement machines x2!) I couldn't help but fall in love with it. I would love it even more if it cut smaller letters but for right now, I am happy with it.

Pros: Small, quite and portable
Cons: only works 50% of the time

Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this product at the moment because there are far too many problems with it. I did the pre-order last year and it took so long that I finally gave up and bought it from HSN in March. I have had to replace it twice since then and my third one is only working about half the time. When it works, it does a nice job and you can get alot of small letters out of a 4x4 square of paper. Unfortunately you can also waste alot trying to get it right. I would prefer to be able to cut smaller letters then the current minimum size, but at least you do have the option of cutting in 3 sizes. Overall, the concept is very good but I'm afraid that there are still ALOT of bugs to be worked out before I would recommend this to anyone. In fact, I just sold mine and am planning to purchase a Cricut instead.

Pros: In the long run, one of the cheaper font cutters
Cons: company is still working out the kinks

After a little bit of struggle with the initial mat that came with the machine, I called Xyron and they immediately sent me 2 replacement mats. While I'm not getting the 200 cuts per mat they "promise" (more like 100), I am still pleased overall with this machine. I will be even more pleased with it when they come out with the smaller fonts they are promising, and more selection in font and image books (I have my eye on that SEI one right now!). I have to admit that with the problems others have had with their machines "konking out" on them at the drop of a hat, I am just waiting with apprehension for mine to up and quit on me. I hope I'm wrong. I also have huge hopes for that little USB port in the back of the machine!! :o)

Pros: None
Cons: Just doesn't work

I ordered the Xyron PCS and was thrilled when it arrived. I cut out about ten letters and one shape. After trying several times, plugging and unplugging the machine, it just wouldn't turn on. Called customer service who sent me another machine and here it is.... just like the first one. One letter this time and then the little beep.... machine is dead again. Wish I had purchased the accu cut machine, but I now have to deal with customer service again and wait another 8 days for a replacement.

Pros: easy to use, fun!
Cons: mat that came with machine was dodgy

I have read mixed reviews for the machine, and although there are some problems with the machine I have been pretty happy with it. I did have the "mat problem" to begin with, however with the new mats it works really well. I contacted Xyron by email and they are sending me two replace mats. In the end the cost of the design books was why I made my choice. I also like the books available from Xyron. I would recommend the machine, but buy some extra mats when you buy the machine.

Pros: none
Cons: beware

I used this at a crop the other day. Thought it would be a good preview-after trying to use it and wasting alot of paper will not buy it. The paper would not stay stuck to the cutting mat. After the sticky mat was turned -the machine made one letter cut and then the paper came off again. Very slow if you are making a title. Will not recommend.

Pros: Easy to use. Much more affordable than others.
Cons: none yet

I felt compelled to review the xyron pcs because of the poor reviews surrounding the release. I love mine. I got it a year ago (04/06). I have used it for several projects and pages. I took it to a weekend crop recently and it was very warmly received even amongst all the cricuts. It is much more basic than the wishblade or cricut. But at half the price and with no learning curve, that's just fine. I just couldn't justify the expense of the others and so far I haven't been disappointed. As a matter of fact, a friend who used mine at the crop, just ordered her own!
