Description: At last! I've found a paper trimmer that cuts with precision. With the Genesis Safety Trimmer, you can cut tissue, vellum, bond, card stock -- even flexible magnets -- and see smooth, precise, perfect edges! The Genesis Safety Trimmer is sturdier than the paper trimmers you've seen and used before. It's made of anodized aluminum and steel, and its rotary blade glides on a bearing-operated slide bar. You'll be amazed at the clean, accurate cuts you can achieve with only the tiniest effort! Designed by a photographer to cut film and photographs with precision, the Genesis trimmer is a perfect tool for graphic artists, computer artists, rubber stampers and scrapbookers who want their work to look its best.

Pros: A paper trimmer that cuts with precision!
Cons: Expensive! Takes a long time to get.

I have the 16 inch cutter without the edgelight. I'm sure the edgelight would be an excellent feature but I just don't have the room on my scrap table. I love this cutter. It is so precise that my matts never have that "off" look to them. I can even slice the paper so thin that the salvage actually curls! Jane Swanson

Pros: square and true
Cons: None

This one of those tools in your life that gives you joy to use and this is my way of thanking the maker for producing an excellent product. I bought the 16" model without the light. I happened to have a 1" thick square of particle board veneered in Bubinga that was slightly larger than the trimmer. I placed four rubber feet with the adhesive covers intact on my work table, laid the Bubinga panel on top and then set the trimmer on the panel. I made them flush on the right. This additional 1 1/4" space accomodates a flourescent task light such as you would mount under an upper kitchen cabinet. The light shows up the edge of the image beautifully. Accurate cuts couldn't be easier. I can easily trim a 13 x 19 print with one extra step. If you use a straightedge set in by about an inch as a hold-down, you can trim off a sweet 1mm uniform cut. Pros: sharp blade
Cons: doesn't cut straight /blade is exposed

I was very uphappy with this trimmer. I waited 8 months for this trimmer and was very disappointed in what I got. This trimmer is very dangerous for anyone who has children in their home. The blade is exposed and there is no guard shield for it. The wait is long and the price is high. I purchased the 16" with guidebar, edgelight and extra blade. It was huge and I have my own scraproom! Even with the guidebar it did not cut straight. I thought it was me so I had a friend who works in the industry look at it and they could not get it to cut straight either. So, the blade might be sharp but it doesn't do you any good if it does not cut straight. I knew it couldn't go to crops with me but I couldn't go from room to room with it either. Look at the other rotary trimmers out there.

Pros: Cuts with precision
Cons: NONE

I have a 16" Genesis with the edgelight and guidebar and I love it. It is huge, it is 16 inches deep and 16 inches wide plus another 2 and 1/2 inches for the edgelight. It is EXACTLY what I ordered. I love the edgelight because I can see through the photographs and trim without cutting off someones ear or if there is a hair out of place I just cut it. I love it so much I bought a 12" to take to crops. Guess what, it is 12 inches deep and 12 inches wide.

Pros: Accurate, smooth cuts
Cons: Haven't found any in 6 years!

I've been using this cutter for over 6 years and it cuts as true today as it did the day I got it. Amazingly, my 20" cutter is a 20" square and I knew how big that was when I ordered it. I got what I ordered. I would safeguard this cutter in the same way I would the kitchen knives. It's not a toy and should not be made available to children. It's a quality, professional tool that performs to the highest standard.

Pros: Accuracy & ease of use
Cons: Having to wait so long...but worth it!

Luckily, I bought mine long before the wait was so long...all three of them. That is right, I have a 16" with the edge light that I keep on my work table, a 12" that I take with me or use as a mobile unit and a baby 6" for really small jobs. I love the edge light feature for cropping photographs. I have always felt that it was a very safe (thus the name, Safety Trimmer) and an ultra accurate machine. Considering the number of cuts I have made on mine, I feel they are very economical too. Haven't even had to change a blade yet. I highly recommend this product.
