Description: Growing Up ME: A Guide to Scrapbooking Childhood Stories encourages children to explore what is unique and special about them. It is designed for adults to use when helping children scrapbook about themselves. It can also be used to guide an adult when creating scrapbook pages about children. This book follows the proven format that won the hearts of readers of The Book of Me, Angie Pedersen’s first book (over 50,000 copies sold to date). Growing Up ME is divided into themes that are common to children’s lives such as family, school, friendship, daydreams, and spirituality. Each chapter defines the chapter role, explains why the role is important, provides examples, includes prompts to aid journaling, lists ideas for photos, and quotations that would help illustrate the role. Each chapter also includes additional Internet resources. The chapters are illustrated with scrapbook pages by Angie and her children, as well as 37 other children and their parents who submitted a total of 71 of the book’s layouts. The last chapters provide journaling prompts and exercises that inspire children to look to the future and envision and research the possibilities for what they would like to become. The book encourages children to document their dreams, providing their own roadmap to the future.

Pros:
Cons:

Excellent resource for anyone working with children. Though written from an adult perspective, the majority of layouts published are created by children. Makes for great eye candy, in addition to the guidance it lends.

Pros: great book
Cons:

I love the mix of pages done by adults and children. It really helps to inspire both parent and child. My children love to flip through the pages and see layouts made by their peers - a concept which is completely unique.

Pros: great mix of layouts, great resource for all ages!
Cons: None!

My youngest son (11 years old) should be the one writing this review since he is the one who is using the Growing Up Me book, which he asked for and received for his birthday. He loves the book - from cover to cover and has recently completed his first pages from its inspiration. The book has a very nice blend of layouts done by both adults and kids, but mostly by the kids themselves - of all ages and scrapping skills. The topics are wonderfully varied and are some that I would want to include in my own Book of Me - and I will! It is a terrific resource for anyone who has children who already are or who may want to be involved in scrapbooking, for teachers who want to work with kids in a creative endeavor or for an awesome summer project! I will be conducting some summer scrapping camps for kids using this book as our resource!! I highly recommend this book for kids of ALL ages!

Pros: easy to follow great idea

If you loved Book of Me, you'll love Growing Up Me just as much. This handbook is a must have on your idea book shelf, whether or not you have kids.

Pros: Easy to read, tons of resources
Cons:

I have read a few chapters..only because of the extreme amount of info in each few pages, I keep re-reading it over and over... INCREDIBLE for your own book or family albums, for your kids to use, or if you are a teacher whether in a school setting or Sunday School. I could see where this could be very helpful for counselors as well. THUMBS UP! I love it!
