I have this and have used it quite a bit. More for other craft projects than scrapbooking though. It is very compact so it does not take up much room. Not portable though.

If you are considering a purchase beyond your basic scrapbooking tools this is it!
I am a big Sizzix fan! This machine cuts through paper, fabric, felt, foam, rubber adhesive, magnet paper, etc. Dry embossing? No problem with the Sizzix. Hate cutting from templates for alphabets, use the Sizzix. Need 50 foam apples for school project, use the Sizzix. Like to use die cut shapes and customize them? Paper doll fan? Make your own rubber stamps? The Sizzix is wonderful for the home crafter.
You put your paper on the cutting plate, then put your die rubber side down on the paper. Push the cutting plate so that your die is under the pressure plate (larger dies require 2 passes under the pressure plate). Lower the handle to make your cut. Lift the handle and remove your die and your die cut.
Very easy and safe to use. Easy enough for kids to use but I would suggest that children under 10 should be under adult supervision. The pressure can exert enough pressure to hurt those precious fingers. Besides you wouldn't want your 8 year old to decide that the pressure plate would be a great place to "crush" those Hot Wheels cars just like the cars they see crushed at the junk yard!
The machine is smaller than traditional die cut machines. But don't be fooled this is a substantial machine. It weighs in at about 12-15 pounds. Totes are available to carry it and it's is advertised as portable but again, at 12 pounds are so it isn't lightweight.
Sizzix sells the dies separately from the machine. You can buy individual decorative dies (some are sold as sets) as your budget allows. The dies came in all sorts of shapes-- schools supplies, seasonal, nature, transportation, kids, babies, dolls, sports, etc.
The dies are plastic back (rather than wood as on traditional dies) and rubber on the other side. The rubber is used to encase the steel rule cutting area.
Also available are alphabet dies (3 styles with more to come).
Sizzix has recently increased the versatility of their machine with the newer Sizzlet dies and embossing folders. In order to use these lower profile dies you will need to attach a magnetic converter (sold separately) to the pressure plate.
Sizzlet dies are smaller, much flater dies designed to only cut through paper. They offer 4 alphabet fonts with more on the way.
The embossing folders must also be used with the converter but it you love that embossed look but don't want to bother with the stylus and light box, you have just found your product.
This machine is perfect for the home scrapbooker, rubber stamper, Scout Dens, church groups, day care centers, schools, etc.
Parting Tip: I use the Sizzix dies to cut adhesive backed foam or adhesive backed rubber to make my own rubber stamps. Don't throw away the clear plastic cases you buy your dies in. I cut the foam or rubber using my Sizzix die. Then mount them on the back of the clear plastic cases. Wonderfully inexpensive stamps, great for kids!

I got mine recently on sizzix.com for half price. Bought alphabets on ebay at great prices. I love being able to make letters any time of day or night in color I want. Beats working late at night only to realize you don't have just the right color for your layout. I've also bought a few dies at Michael's with the 40% off coupons. Sizzix.com has sales regularly, so keep an eye on their site. Great for larger things.

You can use Quickutz in this Machine with the sidekick AND Sizzix converter which is an added bonus. I like the range of die cuts available. The die cuts range from 8.99 – 19.99 and 150.00 for the alphabets (Numbers are included along with punctuation and shadows.) The machine is extremely heavy and because of that isn’t very portable. .

I love using my Sizzix die cut machine, but getting it in and out of storage is a pain. However, once you start using it is really fun. The product is well made and you can use other dies with it.
I purchased my die cut machine from the Sizzix website. They had a 40% off coupon and I saved a lot on dies and the machine.
I recently went on the Sizzix website and purchased the tote to store my machine and dies for 50% off the original price.

I just bought my sizzix about 3 months ago and I love it!! I never knew all the different shapes alphabets and...possibilities. I'm addicted now, I'm constantly buying new dies for it. This machine is the best. My kids even use it!
