Description:For Scrapwhispers Challenge #162: Make journalling your focal point.
Journalling reads: My coffee table is my most treasured piece of furniture. Most of my keepsakes and treasures are pictures, quilts, china, kitchen items, and decorations – items passed down from the women in my family. My furniture, on the other hand, is serviceable, but unsentimental, until now. My father died when I was a small child, but I never really felt the lack. My mother, the most amazing person I know, was all the family I needed. Then, when I was an adult, Mom married Gordi. Gordi has given me many precious gifts. He’s a grandfather to my children, taking them fishing and teaching them to build things from wood. He’s a buddy to my brother, laughing about the Navy, and teasing Mom. He has given me his friendship, humor, and unconditional love, even when I wasn’t sure about this whole “stepfather” thing. He has given me memories, hugs, and laughter. This Christmas, he gave me a tangible treasure – this beautiful inlaid coffee table, designed after one of my mom’s quilt patterns. He is so talented! I will treasure it forever. I am so lucky to have him in my life, and not just because he gives awesome Christmas gifts!
