Two Faces of Two

Description: One I've been wanting to do for months but have been waiting for the right photo(s). It's about my daughter's two year old mood swings. I handcut the title, though the words "faces of" are pretty hard to see because the 2 twos are so big. Except for the coloured brads on my photo turn flowers this is a strictly black and white layout. The quote across the bottom is Henry W. Longfellow. Olivia treats us to many different faces on any given day but these two (with some slight variations) are the most common. Sweet/sour, Happy/sad, Good/bad, content/furious. You get the idea. Olivia has a little button located on her body (I suspect she may have inherited it from me). The trouble is, it tends to move around a fair bit, which keeps us guessing but also prevents life from getting boring. Daddy can usually locate this button a bit quicker than I can, though I STRONGLY suspect that he LOOKS for it, whereas I tend to try to avoid coming across it. Like most buttons, when pushed, the effect, or reaction, is often surprisingly swift. Olivia can go from her charming, pleasant self to all out screaming red-faced rage in the blink of an eye. Now, I realize that this isn’t unusual behaviour for a two year old, (and we fully anticipate dealing with a “hormonally infused” version of this in about 8 – 10 years) but KNOWING this doesn’t make the lightning fast mood swings any easier to predict or deal with. Yes, after 11 months, Olivia has gotten quite proficient at all the “typical” two year old behaviour, and she’s paved a mighty fine path for Kimberly to follow in the upcoming year. As we approach Olivia’s 3rd birthday, we can only guess at what she’s got in store for us, but I’m going to be optimistic and hope that the worst of it will soon be behind us! - Feb. 2006 The quote reads: There was a little girl who had a little curl right in the middle of her forehead - and when she was good, she was very very good but when she was bad she was horrid. - H. W. Longfellow
