I love CM!! I have been scrapbooking for over 40 years - Creative Memories is the one company that is truly focused on preservation. I appreciate that they do not hop on the bandwagon and come out with embellishments that are not necessarily photo-safe. And, no, I'm not a CM consultant!

I love the creative memories products and feel confident in using them on all my precious memories. I have done alot of scrapbooking and much research to come to my conclusion. I'm not a CM consultant, just a happy customer.

I love doing CM so much I became a consultant. I'm still having fun creating all my scrapbook pages and get the stuff at a better price just by being a consultant.

I love Creative Memories. I have so many plans for my children and family in the wonderful albums!

I love that there are people who use CM and aren't afraid to stand up about it. I started just regular scrapbooking but am going into more and more CM b/c I feel I trust it and it IS safe. Not to mention I want my albums to not show trends but ME AND MY FAMILY. I don't want to be the minority of having more than 2 pics on a page.:) And it's great they've gotten away from the gingham!:)LOL

I have basically given up on CM and been completely dissatisfied with most (not all) of the consultants I've dealt with. Many give out inaccurate info (again, the consultants I've dealt with). No - not ONLY CM products are safe - there are many companies who offer products that are fine and safe. You can use embellishments in your albums safely and archivally. All you need is a basic understanding of scrapbooking. Just pick up magazines like Creating Keepsakes or MemoryMakers. There is a whole world out there of scrapbooking that has evolved while CM is stagnant. CM is very expensive, their strap-hinge albums are odd-sized so you have to buy their paper (or trim down), then you have to "wallpaper" colorful paper onto their pages, you can't rearrange them once they are stuck back to back. I feel as if I was completely taken advantage of when I started scrapping in 1996 and CM consultants gave me inaccurage info. Once I learned that there are MANY MANY more economical, completely SAFE products out there, I was a much happier, more creative scrapper. I know this is just my experience and there ARE some good consultants out there, but I feel I had to share this.

Margie-I feel bad that you got a bad taste of CM. Things have changed ALOT! The company has really listened to what their customers want. New 12x12 paper coming out soon! 12 inch trimmer. Tons of new stuff that is safe! I amglad you are preserving your memories!

I was introduced to CM in 2001 via a home class. I was drawn to cropping because I had always done it pretty much but in magnetic albums. I was a little turned away because of the prices. So, I tried using supplies that I purchased elsewhere. I was mixing CM with other products, mainly stickers, etc. After a while, I did an album with all CM products and I actually loved it more than my other album. It was easier to create and it seemed more organized. I just recenty signed up to be a CM consultant (FEB 05) to be exact. I tell my family, friends, and customers they can use what makes them happy in their albums. I, myself prefer CM products but I just want to help them preserve their photos.

This is what I've found after alot of research, the products out there don't have to be 100% acid free when they say they are. These products aren't regulated so they can basically say what they want. I don't know is CM is either, but I feel a whole lot safer using their products as opposed to metal stickers, eyelets, ribbon, fiber, etc. I do realize that those products do appeal to some, and I'm not trying to bash people for using them, but I think that the focus should be on your pictures, not stickers. I agree that there are a ton of bad consultants but mine is wonderful and is very informative and not at all pushy! Also I think her pages are much better than all the trendy pages that are going to look stupid in 5 years.

I'm trying to decide if being a CM consultant is going to be a worthwhile thing. I've been scrapping the conventional way, but prefer the more structured photo focussed albums that all the CM fans have. My only concern is not being able to make the minimum purchases required. THey are new to South Africa - so I'm not sure what the response wille be from the 'use any product' scrappers already here. Does anyone have any advice for me?

Review By: Nicole Added: 04-08-2005
Vanessa I am a CM consultant and had the same concerns that you have. I did not think i could make the minimum purchases. It is NOT hard and I would not worry about it, especially in an area that CM is new too.

I had to respond to this comment: "CM is very expensive, their strap-hinge albums are odd-sized so you have to buy their paper (or trim down), then you have to "wallpaper" colorful paper onto their pages, you can't rearrange them once they are stuck back to back." First, I have checked many, many different albums out there on the market, and the CM ones are the best quality I have found. The prices are even comparable to the runners-up I found in craft stores in my area. I do not find CM albums to be more expensive when you consider the quality, and I won't put my precious photos and memorabilia in tacky unsafe albums. Also, what is wrong with a solid background page? Why do you have to "wallpaper" a CM page? Personally, I want the focus to be my photos, not the decorative paper I have plastered the page with before setting down my photos. Lastly, if an album was planned out well to begin with, why should any rearranging be done at all? Sorry, but I truly do not understand Margie's complaints. I use CM for the most part, as they are totally safe and high quality, but I also use some items from other companies that I trust. All in all, I have to say that CM's prices are not really higher than the comparable quality items on the market, and I have done my research. Sure, you can find all sorts of scrapbooking supplies dirt cheap, and of questionable quality, but do you truly want to use them?

Of all the companies whose products I have tried, I trust Creative Memories the best. Their products are of highest quality, and their prices are reasonable given the quality. Other albums my friends have used are not nearly as well-made as CM albums, and CM doesn't waste time on silly trendy items that make scrapbooks look messy and cluttered. I always thought the purpose of srapping was to preserve our memories, not see how many eyelets or ribbons we can cram onto a single page. I do prefer a simpler page as opposed to chaos. CM's stickers are better than any others I have found, as they are precision cut and always attractive. Their tape runner is the best adhesive I've found, as well. I'm not saying other companies don't have good products, I'm just saying that as a whole, I have found that all the CM products I have used have been of better quality than similar items from other companies.

I am a CM customer for years and years. At one point i had changed to a 'top loading' album because of the cost, the wallpaper issue and to be able to move pages around. After only a couple of months, the albums were sagging. The pages were too heavy for the plastic and the either the plastic rings were ripping OR on one of them the binding was ripping. All that work!! I had stayed in touch with my CM consultant still using some of the products and we met. I showed her my concerns and what was happening. Well needless to say, i spent hours and hours taking those album pages i had done and put them into a creative memories album. It has been two years now and my albums are in wonderful shape and I have the assurance that if something happens the company will replace them. As far as being able to move pages around. I have solved that by planning an album at a time. I sort the photos, crop the photos then lay all 30 pages out. Then I stack them, put them in a photo safe box and work on one page at a time, knowing that they will fit and that they are in order. I have recently become a CM consultant because I want to earn money and do something I enjoy while continuing to be home with my child. I am excited being able to teach others. Kary

I just wanted to add some info about photo safety for the good of the cause. I have seen many people who have used products that were advertised as being "photo safe", which they believed to be photo safe, which turned out not to be, or that were sadly defective. Since scrapbooking is an unregulated industry, any company can claim their products are acid free - well, so is mayonnaise. They may claim their products are "photo safe" but on what definition do they base that claim and who checks to ensure its accuracy? Basically you have nothing to go by but the company's integrity and reputation and your own research. Creative Memories' products are all rigorously tested to meet or exceed ISO Standard 18902, (International Organization of Standardization) which includes about 40 different, specific standards. There are three organizations in the US that VOLUNTARILY comply with all the standards of ISO 18902 - the Library of Congress, the U.S. Archives and Creative Memories. (NO, I'm not kidding). In addition, Creative Memories has a staff member on the panel of experts for the ISO, and Creative Memories actually employs scientists whose job it is all day every day to test the products for photo safety (as defined by ISO 18902) and ensure the highest quality and workmanship so that our memories are, in fact, preserved. CM spends $1 million each year to test, research and certify their products. And CM offers a LIFETIME GUARANTEE on every single album - and you don't even need a receipt to have it replaced or repaired, and you can return it to ANY consultant world wide. So I would advise anyone who really cares about preserving their photos and stories to please use albums that are PROVEN to be safe, longlasting and guaranteed. There may be others out there that qualify, but none to my knowledge. And if you're a diehard top-loader, you can always use Creative Memories' Portrait Sleeves together with the new "Perfect Fit" papers. Yes, I am a consultant. I welcome all family historians and memory keepers, regardless of whose products they choose to use. I just believe that croppers should make an informed and educated choice. I hope this information is helpful.

Wow Jan, thanks so much for sharing this information about CM and their mission regarding our products and complying with ISO standards. I'm so excited to get this information and know that we are one of only 3 companeis to comply with those standards. This is fabulous!!!!

I like the CM cutters. They are the best. But I must say, I am unhappy with the fact that none of CM papers and markers coordinate. I use Stampin Up markers and paper for this very reason. CM needs to get with it and coordinate their colors. Nothing matches unless you buy the precut packets.

Review By: Missy Added: 03-05-2006
Connie, I used to be a SU Consultant. Keep in mind the SU papers/markers are really made for card making. SU does not invest in ensuring that their products are safe for pictures. Just a thought.

I love Creative Memories products. I have found that many other, less expensive items, such as punches, just are not as good as CM. Their scrapbooks are absolutely the best. I am hoping to become a CM consultant - if I can just convince my husband - lol! Marsha
