Description: Just a fun month-in-review one. I intended to do one of these for each month - HA! But I do what I can...
Tons of journaling, the photo collage lifts up, there is a desaturated and lightened copy of the collage under the photo with descriptions of the pics, and the journaling.
Journaling:
What a month! (Aren’t they all?) If only the weather would catch up to the calendar. We’ve had a much cooler and wetter spring than usual. Still, we’ve managed to keep busy and spend as much time outside as possible. Olivia’s T-ball continued every Thursday evening and she’s gotten really good, especially at batting. Kevin helps out whenever he can. They had their team photos done, though we’re still waiting for the pictures.
Colin did a YAG weekend early in the month and kept up with his increasingly busy and demanding social life for the rest of the month. He spends enough time at Chris’s that his parents are probably about ready to start charging us rent! He’s been long boarding whenever the weather cooperates and he’s made a couple trips (via bus, not board!) into Vancouver with his friends to a specialty shop when a few of his other friends were ready to buy boards. It’s nice to see him just hanging out with friends and having fun – and NOT getting into trouble. He’s had a pretty decent semester in school but is getting burnt out with Cadets. He got his summer camp staff offer so he’ll be gone most of his summer break at Quadra again.
There was a special “Mother’s Day Tea” that Olivia’s preschool class put on for the moms, that was wonderful! And I had a nice surprise when I was presented with a certificate from the kids to get myself a new bike helmet, something I’ve been needing for a while now! There was also a preschool field trip to the Fire Hall. Kevin marched in the Port Coquitlam May Day parade with about a dozen or so of his Cadets so I took the girls out to see the parade. They loved it. Kevin was off to San Jose mid month for a few days to do some software training at Focus, then off on a citizenship weekend to Victoria with a bunch of his Cadets the following weekend. Between being busy at work and busy with Cadets, it seems he’s perpetually “behind” these days. Hopefully things will ease up a little bit over the summer…
I took the girls swimming a couple times, and got them out on their bikes a few times too. Kimee’s doing really well with the new bike she got for her 4th birthday. Still on her training wheels, but she may not need them by the end of the summer. Kimberly also continued with her early Sunday morning ballet classes though I have resolved to never EVER again put her in such an early morning program. She is NOT a morning person. Olivia had her Kindergarten orientation and met her teacher (Mrs. Henrikson) and some of the kids who will be in her class at Birchland in September.
Kevin and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary on the 19th but this year due to Colin having a social life and our lack of other babysitters, we stayed home and Kevin fixed a delicious steak dinner. Olivia and Kimee had only one birthday party this month, a double party for Kai and Minkyu (from preschool) at Crash Crawley’s. Fun! We spent as much time as we could outside, especially in our backyard which I’ve been continuing to get into better shape and fill with fun stuff for the kids. I’m pining for a trampoline, but in the meantime we’ve got a swing, a couple sets of rings, some gardens, a splash pool, lots of toys, and a tire to make an old fashioned tire swing.
I continued my newly renewed passion and obsession with scrapbooking, getting a total of 20 layouts completed in the first month alone. At that rate I might find myself getting “caught up”. But seriously, what fun would that be? I love having a huge reserve of photos, supplies and memories to choose from when it comes time to start a new page.
So that’s about it for May. It’s been 1 year and 10 months since I last did a month-in-review type of page but perhaps I can get more of them done now that I’ve rediscovered my scrapping “groove”…
