This is a layout of one of my baby showers I had. the little photo on the bottom left page that says baby gifts is a little envelope that holds photos of all the gifts I received.
Journaling:
11/9/03 – Friends and family of the Dziekan family gathered at the Red Balloon Tea House in Brighton, Michigan to celebrate the upcoming birth of Joey Fisher. Briana planned the shower and found the cutest little place to have it per suggestion of her friend Joyelle Lamb. It held about 30 and was just a nice little room for gathering for showers, etc. We made our own food instead of having it catered to save money. Briana picked up the food and made the arrangements. Friends Joyelle and Leilani (shown in the kitchen on the right page) asked to do invitations, the cooking for the shower and a few of the other fine details. They also did this for my wedding shower and I couldn’t have done it without them. They saved me in a very stressful time – well and they love to throw a party! They planned games and fun – they are the best!!! They also make sure to take the best photos every occasion so I can scrapbook them! Leilani also suggested that we do a diaper shower, where instead of wrapping the gift, the guest bring it in a paper bag and use the money you would have spent to buy diapers for the baby! I got a TON of diapers to help out once Joey was born!
I’m so fortunate to have so many great friends and family members. As you can see on the stairs of the tea room, the gathering of gifts was abundant! If you look in the little envelope to the left page, you will see a spread of the gifts I received, which I photographed at home after the shower. Some of the things I received which I remember – diapers, a boppy pillow, tons of clothing, a mobile for Joey’s crib, bottles, a bouncer, handmade blankets – the one that is green, blue and yellow my mother made, a changing pad for the changing table, a sound sleeper – it makes white noises to help the baby sleep, booties, stuffed animals, a mattress for the crib (not shown) and a few other misc items that really helped! I know Joe and I couldn’t have bought all this stuff ourselves for the baby! We love our friends and family who helped show their love by coming to our shower!
