This is something that Joe did every day as he came home from work this
summer. Here is the journaling:
Joe’s After-Work Routine: When Joe was younger, Grandma Kapa and him loved
to plant their garden every year and watch it boast a bountiful crop! Though
Joe doesn’t really care to eat most of the vegetables he grows, he still
loves to grow them. This was the first year Joe had his own garden. Briana’s
dad made the garden possible by building the garden box. Every day after he
returned home from work, before even going into the house, he would check
his garden. The summer of 2002 was a scorcher, with temps into the 90’s most
days and hardly any rain. Joe made sure to water his garden every day. Our
grass may have died but the garden was thriving like you wouldn’t believe!
The crops that did fantastic this year were the zucchini plants, tomatoes,
leaf lettuce and beans. The cucumbers grew pretty well. The watermelon and
carrots didn’t grow very well despite the way Joe tended to them. Joe only
ate the leaf lettuce and what did grow from the watermelon plant. Briana
loves all vegetables so the garden was a bonus!
