Description: When I was in first grade in New Jersey, about 1958, I was chosen to be the angel in the church’s Christmas Nativity. My mother sewed my angel gown and made my wings and halo using a wire form she made and covered with fabric and outlined in tinsel. I was so proud of my costume. On the night of the Christmas party, I dressed in my beautiful costume and my dad took my picture in front of the sliding pocket doors of our parlor. I can still see that black and white photo in my mind. Over the years, it has disappeared and that makes me so sad. But I will always remember the time and love that my mother put into making my costume and that my dad thought I was the prettiest angel he’d ever seen. Perhaps that photo will turn up one day, but if not, I still have the wonderful memory.
