Description: A layout about my favorite place to eat while growing up.
Journaling: Throughout my entire childhood, Double K was the place that my family ate whenever we were in Norfolk. Whether it be while shopping or after the Fourth of July Fireworks Spectaular there was always a stop at Double K. Glorious and tasty food was on tap every visit. It might have been a juicy Buck Buger, those FABULOUS onion rings (i have had ALOT of rings in my life and those were by far the greatest!), the famous Broasted Chicken or the wonderful shakes, I never left there hungry that was for sure. I still remember that Double K was one of the first places that used a blower dryer hand dryer. Years earlier, you use to pick up a phone to place your order and even before that.....there was mini jukeboxes in each booth. As a child I named it, Frosty Caw Caw....more than likely for the large white Rooster on the roof and those forementioned shakes.
There wasn’t a place that I enjoyed going to more and that has more fond memories for me then this place. I look at the picture and all I can see is my Dad. He LOVED to go here. Recently, myself, my brother and my niece went by where Double K use to be and we both talked about the Good Old Double K day. Oh how I miss that place. I recently joined the Remembering Double K group on Facebook which was really strange for me becasue I mentioned to my brother, “it would be so cool to have a photo of Double K”........and here it is: Journaled 3-2010
